Their vineyards are situated in the sub-regions of Seppeltsfield, Marananga and Moppa located along the Barossa Valley’s western edge and are some of the oldest vines in the world. Thin, sandy loam topsoils lie sparsely scattered over ancient deposits of bluestone, marble stone, limestone, quartz and ironstone. Rainfall is limited, often to less than 400 millimetres a year falling through winter and early spring. Subsurface clay retains valuable moisture, sustaining the vines through the long, warm and dry summers and autumns. The perfect, low-disease-pressure conditions in which to grow small, healthy bunches of compact, flavour-packed berries.

Alice's vineyard and the Shiraz it grows takes its name a mother and an aunt of Greenock Creek's owners Annabelle and Michael Waugh: Annabelle's mom and Michael's favourite aunt. Alices Shiraz is one of the iconic big reds in Greenock Creek's portfolio and is also the winery's largest vineyard with a total area of 15 acres. The vines on the site were planted in 1997.

Formerly known as Domaine Bernard Fouquet, until Bernard retired in 2021, handing the reins to Charles Lesaffre. Charles is the grandson of Gérald Bruley des Varannes, the man from whom Bernard's father André acquired his first vineyards, thereby bringing the story of the Domaine full circle. An avid practitioner of viticulture and oenology, Charles joined Bernard as an associate in 2019. Two years into his tenure, Charles has emphasized organic and biodynamic practices. Charles has continued, as Bernard before him, to capture the unique Vouvray mineral tones, along with the wonderfully balanced expression of fruit of the Chenin Blanc grape, in his wines.
The grapes come from a tiny parcel in the Loire Valley called Petit Clos, which boasts four-decade-old (and more) vines of Chenin Blanc. The clay-limestone soils help produce a dry, rich and powerful white. Best served with goat cheese, chicken salad or rich fish like salmon or sea bream.

This Ribeira Sacra project is made from the Mencía varietal, a red grape that is gaining favour around the globe. The wine is made with the notion of conveying the mineral essence of the area by blending grapes from different schist soils found on the banks of the Sil River. An Atlantic wine, mineral, saline, aromatic, excellent acidity, tart fruits, soft tannins, herbaceous notes and sweet and savoury spices. The result is a medium-bodied wine with excellent length.. Noël Bulliat and his son Loïc run this family estate that covers 27 ha in 8 different crus in the heart of the Beaujolais region. It began in 1978 when Noël bought 4 ha of Beaujolais Villages straight after graduating from viticultural school. The grapes are hand-picked and fermented with the whole clusters intact. Morgon is arguably the most important of the Beaujolais crus (there are 10 in total) and - along with Moulin-A-Vent- the most powerful in terms of concentration of fruit. The grapes undergo a cold maceration to preserve aromatic profile before being moved to cement tanks for semi-carbonic maceration, lasting 10 to 12 days using indigenous yeasts. They are certified organic and offer bright, expressive notes of red berries, minerality, subtle spice and lively acidity to tie it all together. Try it with duck or roast chicken.

The Champagnes from father-daughter duo Arnaud & Mathilde Margaine are a KWM exclusive, and they are exceptional. With vineyards based in Montagne de Reims, they specialize in Chardonnay (90%) although they also have a small plot of Pinot Noir. This small estate (7 hectares) was started by Arnaud's father (Bernard) in the 1950s and is organically farmed. The vines average 35 years of age and the Chardonnay is produced from a clone unique to the area.

Sylvain Martel completed his winemaking training in the Southern Rhone and spent ten years running a small organic estate in the Ardeche. He relocated to Beaujolais, after the Graillot family of Crozes-Hermitage brought him on board to help establish and manage Domaine de Fa. As fate would have it, Sylvain met Anne-Sophie Dubois (we carry her wines as well) in 2016 and settled down in Fleurie. By 2018 he was ready to start his own project and purchased a 1.3ha plot of 45 year old Gamay vines on a dramatic steep slope at 450m altitude in the lieu-dit of Bessay in the western part of Julienas. A terroir of blue stones, the tree-lined vineyard is planted to a high density, cultivation is organic and the yields are kept low (25hl/ha).
