Casamigos Mezcal
$97.99
The Casamigos Mezcal joins the company's Tequila staple as a regular part of their line up. It is made form 100% Espadin Agave that has been smoked underground in earthen pits for 4-6 days. The pinas cooled then crushed by a traditional horse-powered tahona wheel. After that it is fermented, then distilled using copper pot stills. Bottled at 40%.
Casamigos started its life as a Tequila brand created by long time friends George Clooney (yes, THAT George Clooney) and Rande Gerber and Mike Meldman in 2013. It was sold to Diageo in 2017 for between 500 million and 1 billion dollars.
Knob Creek Cask Strength Rye
$107.99
Like Knob Creek Bourbon, the Knob Creek Rye is distilled at Jim Beam distillery which is located in Clermont, Kentucky. As a Kentucky Straight Rye, the mash bill has to consist of at least 51% Rye grain and be primarily aged in Virgin Oak barrels for at least four years, unless a lesser age is stated on the bottle. Bottled at 59.8%.
Driftwood- White Bark Witbier 4-Pack
$16.49
This traditional Belgian-style wheat ale is brewed with the addition of freshly ground coriander and curacao orange peel. Hops are outshone by the wonderful floral aromas that dominate the nose of this dry and quaffable beer.
Protos Verdejo
$24.99
Verdejo is effectively unique to Spain, and specifically to the Rueda region. It's dominated by citrus flavours that include lemon/lime and grapefruit, along a hint of salinity and a pleasant almond note that often develops after a few years in bottle. This one is aged on it's lees for 3 months, all in stainless steel tanks. It's a brilliant seafood wine, particularly with delicate white fish and the bivalve family (oysters, mussels, clams).
Protos Reserva
$59.99
Things start to get serious in this range. It's produced from south facing vineyards in the Burgos Province from 50-year-old vines and aged in French and American barrels for 18 months. It spends two years in bottle prior to release. There's some grip to this wine along with dark red fruits, spice and minerality, and ideal companion to roasted meats and game. Decanting is recommended.
Last Best IPA 6pk
$18.99
I'd call this the original Calgary IPA. Funny how we didn't really have one until 2014/2015 or so. This was "new-school" at the time, though with the softer styles being more prominent now, this one falls towards "old-school" it seems, with big west-coast style malts and a sticky bitter finish. Very fruity though, and quite delicious!
Glendronach 15 Year Revival
$189.99
Limit 1 Per Customer!
We all know the sad story of GlenDronach 15 Revival disappearing, then reappearing, only to dry up to a near a trickle again (in our market, anyway). We don't see much of it nowadays, so it's always a good idea to nab one when opportunity presents. Modern day classic.
Producer's Description: "In flavour, the expression offers sumptuous notes of dark fruits, rich chocolate and manuka honey with an enveloping, memorable finish worthy of this monumental malt’s history. This luxuriously sherried Highland Single Malt Scotch Whisky is bottled at 46% ABV and natural in colour."
Basil Hayden Two by Two Rye
$63.99
A blend of 80% Rye and 20% Bourbon from Jim Beam, bottled under the Basil Hayden's label.
Producer Tasting Note
Aroma: Rich caramel and brown sugar complemented by back notes of soft rye and vanilla
Taste: A balanced blend of sumptuous rye and brown sweets with an ample woody accent
Finish: A pleasant, long, lingering warmth
Producer Description
"Our blending team took on the challenge of bringing together rye and bourbon whiskies from our aging stock to create something incredibly balanced - something that embodies the best that both types of whiskey have to offer.
"While blending is commonly used in American whiskies to deliver a consistent flavor from bottle to bottle, the art and craft is truly on display when balancing liquids from different origins. It takes immense skill to develop an original recipe and an incredible palette to deliver a final product that is more than the sum of its parts.
"The final blend is about 20% bourbon to 80% rye and is best served neat or on-the-rocks to experience the complexity created by meticulously blending four component whiskies."
Confluence Manchester Dry Gin
$52.99
Confluence is a fairly new distillery in Calgary. Their flagship gin is named after the neighborhood they call home. Their Gin is Red Wheat grain based and New Western Dry in style. It is created using six botanicals: juniper, coriander, wild rose petals, lemon peel, cucumber, and saskatoon berries. Bottled at 42.6% ABV.. It has a hint of berry skin fruitiness along with delicate floral hints. Fantastic with tonic, or even a martini!
