The Basil Hayden Dark Rye is a blend of Jim Beam Kentucky Rye Whiskey combined with Calgary's own Alberta Distiller's 100% Rye Whisky. The blend is finished with a touch of port. Bottled at 40%.

Basil Hayden Bourbon is made by Jim Beam Distillery. It is created using the high-rye Old Grand Dad mash bill, which purportedly contains about 27% Rye in the mash. Bottled at 40%.
When Basil Hayden Sr. began distilling his smooth bourbon in 1796, the state of Kentucky was only 4 years old and George Washington was president of the United States! Hayden was born and raised in Maryland, where he learned to make whiskey from rye. When he came to Kentucky, Hayden began making whiskey from a base of corn, but added a higher percentage of rye than other distillers, resulting in a smooth, mild bourbon that was distinctly his own.
