The name of this Primitivo Salento IGP, 7° Ceppo refers to the seventh generation of winemakers of the Taurino family. The grapes for this Primitivo wine come from 70+ year old vines in the Mandura Region. Primitivo itself originated in Croatia and migrated to Italy in the late 1800s. Within Italy, it is grown primarily in Puglia.
Primitivo is possibly more well known under another name - Zinfandel - and was made popular under that moniker in California. It was not known that Primitivo and Zinfandel were the same grape until DNA profiling was done by the UC Davis in 1994.

Philippe and Vincent retained about 32 acres of the family’s vineyards after the parent company was sold, including most notably a parcel of the original Thalabert vineyard, which is situated in the Crozes-Hermitage appellation. The parcel from the Thalabert vineyard that originally belonged to Paul Jaboulet Aîné was renamed Nouvelère, commemorating the ‘new era’. This 100% Syrah is picked from 50+-year-old vines and aged for 24 months in oak, 30% in 25hl barrels (called foudre) and 70% in small 228l oak barrels. Notes of exotic spice and campfire smoke circle the core of black cherry and blueberry fruit along with fine-grained tannins and vibrant acidity.

Taking its name from the farm where the Taurino family started making wine, The Notarpanaro is made entirely from the Negroamaro grape. The grapes come from a single 25 hectare plot and the resulting wine is aged for two years in concrete tanks first, followed by a further half a year refill barriques before bottling. About The Winery
Cantina Cosimo Taurino was founded in 1970 by the legendary Apulian producer, Cosimo Taurino. He was a pioneer of Negroamaro, and of the Apulian wine industry, changing it's reputation of the 'not so great southern region that only produces bulk grapes for the north' to a region known for it's high quality red and rosé wines. This is one terrific buy! Viña Mayu was established in 2005, branching off from the Elqui Valley’s first fine wine producer that started up in 1998. Mauro Olivier was one of the pioneers, planting vines for fine wine production and sourcing grapes from different vineyards in the valley. He started working in his family's vineyards at a young age and spent some time working in Pisco production (the national Chilean spirit, made from white wine). In 2000, he planted the first Carménère and Syrah vines in the valley. Five years later, in 2005, he decided it was time to embark on his own wine project, creating the Mayu label. Mayu is an ancient INCA name for the Milky Way, literally meaning "creek of stars." Mayu's Sauvignon Blanc is an intensely aromatic dry white wine with ripe gooseberry, citrus and apple fruit flavors with crisp acidity. Alberto Siegel and his father founded Viña Siegel (now Siegel Family Wines) in 1980. They started planting vineyards in Colchagua and building the winery in Santa Cruz. When Don Germán died in 1998, Alberto became the owner, together with his family.
