Limit 1 Per Customer! You should all know by now that we're big fans of Tamdhu. They're one of the true vanguard protecting the legacy of sherry maturation in the Scotch whisky world and, sadly, there seems to be fewer and fewer distilleries able to produce in this style with each passing year. In short, we're pretty fortunate Tamdhu is holding standards high. To say we were excited for the arrival of the 18-year-old is an understatement. This one has been on our radar since first whispers made it over here. Hate to do it, but we've gotta limit this one to one-per-(customer/family/household) for now.

"Tamdhu only matures in the finest Oloroso Seasoned Sherry Casks sourced from Spain, so when a small selection of these fine casks came of age, the time was right for the distillery to bring them together to craft a very limited 18-Year-Old release. This scarce wood bears two great gifts: colour and taste. Tamdhu 18 Year Old’s deep copper hue is developed by the cask, nothing more – and each drop owes its rich, complex taste to its home of over a decade and a half."

Hopes are high for this one, despite the jawdropping price... we have have several Taliskers from Hunter Laing in recent years, and they have all been excellent. Bottled from a single refill Sherry Butt (HL 19722) filled in 2011, and bottled after 11 years at 50%.
This one has a good early score of 88.75pts on Whiskybase!

Really good BenRiach has been in rather short supply 'round here for quite some time now. When that happens, we turn to the indie bottlers. And when we turn to the indies, it's almost always Gordon & MacPhail standing head and shoulders higher than the rest of the pack. They know their spirits, they know their wood, and they know how to pair them to create something that is so much more than the sum of its parts.
Refill hoggies are where most whisky really shines, so we expect this one will almost certainly be a fruit bomb with impeccable balance.
Refill American Hogshead Cask No. 116 had an outturn of 238 bottles.

Pomegranate is one of the more unique cask finishes we have seen in quite a while. Milk & Honey distillery of Tel Aviv, Israel puts out solid whisky, so this guy is worth a try! Bottled at 57.2%
Edradour 2012 NCS Bourbon 58.2%

Edradour (and all things related to Signatory/Andrew Symington) seems to be leaning heavier and heavier into sherry all the time, so it's a bit like a breath of fresh air seeing this more 'blonde' offering in the Ibisco Decanter range. If you want to really see a distillery's true character, ex-Bourbon is probably the most accurate depiction.
We'd be remiss if we didn't tell you how amazing this one looks on the shelf next to its redheaded sibling. One of each, perhaps?
7 ex-Bourbon casks were married together to create this wee run of 1,677 bottles. Natural colour, non-chill filtered, and bottled at 58.9% abv
Bowmore Vaults First Release

We're not sure where this case of Bowmore Vault Ed. No 1 came from, but we're tickled pink to have it back on the shelf! This was launched in 2016 as the first release in a four bottle series. The second edition came out in 2019, and we are yet to see a third or fourth. It seems Bowmore is more interested in fancy cars nowadays than in finishing what they'd started, so who knows if we ever will? But at this point, all we can say is 'buy it!' Only a handful of bottles available. They won't last long.

Quarter-century-old ex-Bourbon matured Laphroaig; does it get better than this? Not often, unfortunately. This 2022 edition has just landed and we're salivating just like you. If you're fence-sitting, keep in mind that there has never been a bad edition of the Laphroaig 25 Cask Strength. Ever. This one is already sitting at 89.90 pts on Whiskybase.
