Kurinji was a neat little surprise when we were tasting our way through the Victoria Whisky Festival. Our good friend Ashok pulled this out and poured a dram, with a big smile on his face. It was easy to smile along. This is a ridiculously pretty little sipper. Easy going and very charming. The label says Batch 1, so hopefully we see more editions in the future.

Producer Tasting Note
Nose: Floral and flowery notes with pear and melon, muscovado sugar, vanilla with an oak tone and a bit of toffee too.
Palate: Fruity with a tease of citrus notes or it it salted caramel? Confusing! The mid palate is with the arrival of honey and vanilla duo complemented by a creamy toffee and floral notes. There is a slight oak tone with a note of ginger candy too!
Finish: Sweet and floral, with a dusting of cracked pepper.
WhiskyFun Tasting Note (Serge)
Nose: liquid brioche and croissant au beurre, sunflower oil, buttercream, poached pears, dandelions, mirabelles, quinces, vanilla fudge… Some sides remind me of Glenmorangie, which is no bad news. Mouth: fresh young malt, with more pears, apples, gooseberries, grapefruit, lime, orange blossom water… I'm rather reminded of some fresh young Rosebank of old this time. Finish: medium, very zesty, refreshing. A tiny feeling of Kool-Aid in the aftertaste. 87 points.
