"Blue Hanger is one of Berry Bros. & Rudd’s most beloved and distinctive whisky creations, bridging Georgian elegance with modern blending craft. Famous for his elegant dress sense and distinctive blue clothes, William “Blue” Hanger, 3rdLord Coleraine (1748–1794), became affectionately known in fashionable Georgian London circles as “Blue Hanger” and was considered one of the best-dressed men of his day — a true dandy — as well as a loyal patron of Berry Bros. & Rudd in the end of 18th century. Named in his honour, the whisky pays tribute to this famously stylish and devoted customer, celebrating one of Georgian London’s most impeccably dressed gentlemen.
"In honour of this stylish and discerning gentleman, Berry Bros. & Rudd later created a blended malt whisky bearing his name: Blue Hanger.
The first release appeared in the 1990s (originally in very small quantities), designed as a limited-edition blend of exceptional single malts, curated to appeal to whisky connoisseurs. Thereafter, each edition was different, crafted from unique cask combinations, making every batch distinct and collectible. Each edition of Blue Hanger is numbered (e.g., 6th, 7th, 10th Release, etc.), continuing Berry Bros. & Rudd’s tradition of small-batch, handcrafted blending. This lovely little Linkwood was distilled in 2010, maturing 13 years in an ex-Bourbon Hogshead cask before bottling at 56.8% exclusively for KWM. We weren't looking for another Linkwood cask for the store when we picked this one, but we couldn't turn it down. Bottled 20 days shy of its 14th birthday, it has taken nearly a year to come home, and we are thrilled it is finally here. 295 Bottles.
Amrut 2013 9 Year KWM Port Pipe 4660

Our 3rd KWM exclusive cask of Amrut was selected last fall when our friend Ashok paid us a visit to the store. Distilled in August of 2013, the whisky matured 9 years in an ex-Port Pipe No. 4660, before bottling in December of 2022, after 9 years at 60%.
When Ashok was going through the samples with us, he was astounded to learn that his Amrut would be our 145th KWM exclusive cask bottling... so he put that little tidbit on the label. Shipments from India don't happen overnight however, and in the 10 months since the cask was bottled, we've launched more than 10 other exclusive bottlings... But 10 months is an improvement, the last cask took nearly a year and a half to reach us.
It is worth noting, that at 9 years of age, this is a very mature bottling of Amrut. It is also almost certainly the first KWM-exclusive cask bottling from an ex-Port cask.
One final curiosity is the bottling strength of 60%. This is not cask strength, Amrut waters its bottlings down to 60%, if they are above, to save an enormous amount of Indian excise taxes...

"9 Years Old for this single malt Scotch Whisky aged and bottled in Scotland. A classic side of Caol Ila (Peat but not too peaty, savoury green vegetables, and seaweed). B amplified by the Ratafia Champenois touch… Beautifully smooth and hard to understand complexity. Taste bomb that begins and ends with peat in a dancing way. Oily and uplifting, with a texture that reaches all parts of the palate without being overpowering, giving it a perceived lightness. Phenolic citrus fruits and a long smoky finish on the palate amplified by the Ratafia Champenois touch… “The Dumangin Champagne Twist”…. A bouquet of ripe fruit, a hint of vanilla.."

This is the oldest Caol Ila cask we have ever had the privilege of bottling. Distilled in 2002, the whisky was matured 22 years in a First Fill ex-Bourbon Barrel, Cask No. 8384, before bottling at 55.2%. 177 total bottles!
Kilchoman 10yr 100% Islay sinDicate Cask

This 10 year old Kilchoman 100% Islay single cask was selected by and bottled for The sinDicate, a Calgary whisky club. The 2015 vintage whisky was matured in an ex-Bourbon Barrel, cask 15/334, before bottling at 56.8%. The club took most of the 231 bottles, but KWM has the honour of selling the remaining quarter of the cask.
