The wines of Gérard Raphet are a Burgundy lover’s Burgundy. While the wine’s colour in the glass is a delicate ruby, aromas and flavours surprise with their forceful intensity. This contrast often catches the uninitiated off guard, yet it is part of the attraction and seduction of these limited and highly sought-after wines. Raphet Burgundy is handmade from field to bottle, with a rhythm and method that hasn’t changed in four generations. Vines are on average very old, with many vines over 100 years. Harvest is done by hand, and grapes are fermented on indigenous yeasts in tank and then aged for some 18 months in mostly older French oak barrels. Wines are bottled unfined and unfiltered.

Each wine reflects the single vineyard of its origin, the soil, the meso-climate, the aspect and the people that hand tend the vines. All wines are Hand-harvested and hand-crafted, with great attention to detail and minimal winemaking intervention. Meyer Family Vineyards wines are produced from two main vineyards, the 1.62-hectare “Old Main Road” vineyard on the Naramata Bench and the 6.9-hectare “McLean Creek Road” vineyard in Okanagan Falls. The McLean Creek spends 11 months in French oak (22% new). Easily one of the best Chardonnays produced in Canada.

This 21 year old Glenburgie was distilled in 2000 and matured in a Refill Hogshead cask before bottling at 50%.
Note that this was distilled at Glenburgie distillery, not the legendary and mythical Glernburgie Distillery that we previously fabricated by means of a typo. Like the fabled Macallum, Ardberg, and Aberdelfy before it, the Glernburgie distillery has been mothballed, demolished, and spell-corrected.
