This barrel comes from the estate of André Bertandeau. André was deported to Germany for forced labor for 2 years during the Second World War (1942) and was liberated by the Russians. He enjoyed a lot of respect in the region. Not only as a winemaker in Salignac-Sur-Charente, but he continued to work for the community to support families who lost loved ones during the war. Throughout his professional career, he donated his profits to charities. In December 2016, Andre passed away, his vineyards and stock were auctioned. The proceeds were donated to several charities such as Doctors Without Borders.
