When Stanley Morrison purchased Bowmore distillery in 1964, the distillery underwent a major upgrade. The first whisky distilled after these renovations was filled into Oloroso sherry butts and laid down to mature. The 1st and 2nd bottlings of Black Bowmore were of 2000 bottles and the third 1800. The final bottling is of only 827 bottles yielded from the last five of the original Oloroso Sherry Butts. The angels have been greedy, and the whisky has dropped to a cask strength of just 40.5%. Creamy, w/ mango, toffee, dark chocolate & a hint of smoke on the palate. This bottle will increase in value with time; it is being sold for $6,000.00 USD in the US.
