Over the past 40 years, Cody’s (Cody Wright, son of legendary Oregon winemaker Ken Wright) family has created a legacy of quality in the Oregon wine industry. Their winemaking styles and techniques helped Oregon’s Willamette Valley become the premium Pinot Noir-producing region in the world. At Purple Hands, Cody continues to build on the standard of excellence initiated by the previous generation. They dry farm their 60 acres of estate vineyards with their in-house team. They believe that dry farming pro-acts the roots of the grapevine and strengthens their work to descend into the parent material of subsoil finding water, in the process creating incredible fruit character.
2022 Haakon/Lenai Vineyard Pinot Noir
93 Points
“The Haakon/Lenai Pinot Noir offers attractive floral notes of lush violets, candied red berries and turned soils. The palate is lushly textured, with layers of red and purple berries, a dollop of smoky clove, dried wild anise and dusty blackberries; there are notes of black tea and smoky cinnamon spice and earthen minerality that carry the finish.”

Tondonia, the winery’s most famous vineyard and product, was established between 1913 and 1914. It extends over 250 acres on the right bank of the River Ebro. In addition to Tondonia, the estate owns three vineyards (Cubillo, Bosconia, and Zaconia) covering a total area of 420 hectares. The soil is alluvial clay with a high proportion of limestone. Lopez de Heredia winery is the oldest in Haro and one of the first three houses in the Rioja region. They use typical Rioja varieties to produce the best wines: Tempranillo, Garnacha, Graciano and Mazuelo for reds, Viura and Malvasia for whites. The winery’s commitment to tradition is evident in their 131-year history of using American oak. They continue to have their own cooperage, making them the only bodega in Spain to hand-craft all the barrels used to age their wines.
Glenmorangie Nectar D`Or 16 Year
$129.99
The new Nectar' D'Or has some age on it... 16 years, and the cask makeup has been tweaked too. After maturing 14 years in ex-Bourbon, the whisky is now finished for a further two in a marriage of four different sweet wine cask types: Sauternes, Monbazillac, Moscatel, and Tokaji. 46%
Producer Description
"For extra depth and creaminess, silky Glenmorangie aged for 14 years in bourbon casks was selected. The whisky was then finished for two more years in a new combination of sweet white wine casks.
"Sauternes and Monbazillac casks from France bring sumptuous notes of pastry, brioche, meringue and baked apples. Moscatel casks from Spain offer sweet, syrupy dessert-like notes. And Tokaji casks from Hungary, add white chocolate, almond and honeycomb flavours to their creation."
