The heart of Clos Cibonne is their traditional, goblet-trained tibouren, which is believed to be a very old grape variety, originally grown in Mesopotamia, propagated by the Greeks, before being transported by the Romans to Italy in the Liguria region, where it is known as rossese. Tibouren is a very fine, thin-skinned grape which requires a lot of ventilation to be successful and needs to grow close to the ocean, with lots of ventilation to be successful and avoid issues with rot. All of these requirements make Clos Cibonne the perfect terroir for tibouren, as they are walking distance to the ocean and constantly blasted with the drying winds from the mistral. André Roux, the architect of the modern winery, was a great fan of this native variety and understood its potential to be the ideal grape for the region. It is one of the most expressive rose wines on the planet, and is rivalled only by Domaine Tempier in our opinion.

Compass Box Nectarosity's core is built around seasoning American Oak barrels with grain whisky for a period of maturing and then filling them once more with Malt Whisky. After the malt component matures, it is blended with the original grain whisky component, and the Nectarosity blend is born.

"Nectarosity contains casks that we’ve been experimenting with for the last seven years. These casks are special American oak barrels that are deployed twice. First to impart sweet spice to grain spirit for one year, which finishes maturing in other casks; this becomes our parcel of grain whisky from The Girvan Distillery in the composition. Once 'prepared', the barrels age malt whisky from The Clynelish Distillery, bringing grilled apples, nutmeg and maple syrup to the party. We take these two characterful whiskies, blending them with select others to really dial up the juicy fruit and vibrant toffee notes."

Kleinood is a small farm with just twelve hectares of arable land. Of these, ten hectares are devoted to vines, with the remaining two under olive trees. The rest of the farm is left wild or planted with fynbos, roses and vegetables. In the year 2000 the small farm, that was to become Kleinood, was very different from what it is now. Although its inherent natural beauty and charm was always there, it was, sadly, just a run-down and neglected little fruit farm in a beautiful valley against a backdrop of majestic mountains and a river running through it. Caprili Brunello Di Montalcino

Caprili is a Brunello estate in the southwestern sector of the Montalcino appellation near the hamlet of Tavernelle. They are considered one of the old guard of Montalcino producers as they were established in 1965 when they split off from the famous Pieve Santa Restituta estate. The estate is extremely well located, next to Pieve Santa Restituta but also immediately adjacent to Soldera. As such, it is no surprise they are making great wine at Caprili. The bigger surprise is that they are still very much “under the radar”.
