Decadent Drams Blended Scotch 12 Year
$219.99
Acurious creation from Angus and the team at Decadent Drinks, the blend might be 12 years of age, but there are components which go back to the early 1970s. 53% 87.58pts Whiskybase
Producer Description
"We don’t usually dabble in blends. Angus will happily remind anyone that he’s an “out and proud malt snob” nine days out of ten. But every now and then, fate drops something into your lap that’s too good to ignore. In this case, it was a tiny parcel of very old, very low-strength North of Scotland grain whisky from 1973. The kind of spirit that practically begs to be given a stage rather than left gathering dust. We married it with sherry-matured blended malt, then folded in a few venerable Speyside malts (peated and unpeated) before giving the whole lot over a year’s rest in a refill sherry hogshead. The result was bottled at a judicious 53%, a few degrees down for balance and drinkability. For the label, there was only one choice: Charlie MacLean. The original champion of blended Scotch, whisky legend, friend, and inspiration. If anyone deserves to front our first foray into blends, it’s him. This isn’t just a blend, it’s a love letter to the category from a bunch of supposed malt snobs. And if you’re going to break your own rules, you might as well do it properly."

This 2012 vintage Ben Nevis was matured 12 years in a Sherry Hogshead before bottling at 53%. 87.31pts Whiskybase
Producer Description
"This Decadent Drams bottling is a dense, sticky, weighty and tooth-adheringly viscous single sherry hogshead of Ben Nevis highland single malt. Distilled in 2012, aged for 12 years and bottled with a few degrees reduction at 53%. It brims with all the classical 'Dad's toolbox as a smoothie' vibes you have deservedly come to expect from this workhorse west highland distillate. Please enjoy it while meticulously setting up a workshop and teaching yourself how to saw a dovetail joint. "
Whiskyland Ch.16 Highland Park 20 Year
$759.99
This is a curious Highland Park, a marriage of a First Fill Sherry Hogshead from 2005, with a Refill Sherry Hogshead from 1997, bottled after 20 years (the age of the younger component) and 55.5%. 89.47pts Whiskybase
Producer Description
"There are many ways to Whiskyland - but, like these two befuddled Vikings, most people have to first get lost in order to find their way here. Whiskyland Chapter Sixteen is a marriage of a 2005 1st fill sherry hogshead of Highland Park, with a 1997 refill hogshead of Highland Park. The resulting 20 year old grog, bottled at natural marrying strength, is a magnificent, multi-vintage take on classical, mature Highland Park distillery character, with a subtle drenching of sherry. So, lash up your sails for a storm, christen all your weapons with names like 'Bone Squelcher', 'Skull Mangler' and 'Thighroid Dispruptor', grab a few nosing horns and pray to your preferred assortment of imaginary Gods that you wash ashore on one of the stretches of Whiskyland coastline that is well-served by hostelry and at least three star accommodation."

Berry's Glen Keith 1995 21 Year
$229.99
This 21 year old Glen Keith, a 1995 vintage was matured in cask 171273 (of unspecified type, but probably a refill American oak hogshead) and was bottled in 2017 at a cask strength of 49.8%. The whisky was discovered in one of Berry Bros.' warehouses, years after it was bottled, and offered to KWM as an archive release. The whisky was produced at the once closed (1999), then reopened (2013, and soon to be closed again* (2026 or 2027) Glen Keith Distillery.
*This is just a bit of black humour, we have absolutely no idea whether Glen Kinchie will remain open, or for how long. But of all of Pernod Ricard's distilleries, it is probably the most likely to be shut down... again... though it was refurbished in 2012. Maybe they will close Glenlivet instead!
