A small handful of casks were selected from Cotswolds founder Daniel Szor's personal favorites. 'Uniquely active casks' were intentially targeted, to ensure a rich and expressive single malt. These were STR (shaved, toasted, recharred) American red wine casks which, as we can all agree, is the only way to use wine casks for maturing whisky.

Scarabus is a new single malt from Hunter Laing, the owners of the new Ardnahoe Distillery. The whisky is sourced from an undisclosed Islay distillery, as it will be years until Ardnahoe's whisky comes of age. Launched in May on Islay at Feis Isle 2019. The name of the whisky can be traced back to the 13th century, and means "A rocky place" in Norse. Bottled at 46% without colouring or chill-filtering. Tastes like peated Bunnahabhain.
Lightning Rock Pinot Noir Elysia

Pinot Noir from their vineyard was hand harvested on October 8th. The soils are mostly granitic but with pockets of limestone. They played around with different percentages of whole-clusters, ranging from 25-75% inclusion. After 21 days on skins the wine was pressed off into neutral barrel. The wine underwent an eight-month élevage before being bottled unfined and unfiltered. 12.5% ABV - Juice Imports
Montalto Tuerong Pinot Noir

A highly aromatic wine displaying immense complexity. Blackberry and kirsch notes combine with graphite, cherry, and earthy undertones. There’s a whole-bunch floral and fragrant perfume hovering together with some subtle dried herbs, black olive and root vegetables. The palate is structured but shows restraint and elegance as the saturating fruits dissolve into the savoury finish.
Piron Beaujolais Blanc

Dominique Piron’s family has been growing grapes here since the 16th century, and Dominique took over the estate in 1971. Piron farms 45 hectares of vineyards scattered among several different crus in Beaujolais, namely Morgon, Chénas, Brouilly, Régnié and Moulin-à-Vent. He owns some parcels, rents others, and also buys 20 hectares worth of carefully selected grapes from their neighbours. Regardless of where the grapes are sourced, Piron is responsible for every aspect of quality control from the vineyard management to the marketing of the finished wine. They take such great care of each of their crus that even the simple Beaujolais and Beaujolais-Villages wines are carefully selected from single-vineyard parcels. Each of their terroirs is unique, yet they are all granite-based soils—the ideal grounding for the Gamay grape. Piron farms sustainably, although he has also been experimenting with organic methods to achieve a rich biodiversity in the vineyards.

Legent Bourbon

Legent (pronounced ‘lee-jent’) is comprised of three lots of Bourbon matured in different manners. A large portion is 5 year old Straight Bourbon. This was blended with Bourbon that was finished California red wine casks for one year and another batch of Bourbon finished in Sherry casks for two years. Legent is bottled at 47% ABV.
This new Bourbon from Beam Suntory was a collaboration between their American and Japanese arms of whisky making. Suntory’s master blender, Shinji Fukuyo, partnered with Jim Beam’s Master Distiller Fred Noe to create Legent, which underwent several years of development before the final product was released. Fred Noe’s part in everything was the distillation itself - as Master Distiller at Jim Beam. Shinji Fukuyo was in charge of the blending.
Passopisciaro Passorosso

Formerly Passopisciaro, Passorosso is made from the grapes of Nerello Mascalese, blending across different altitudes and soil types. This wine is a holistic expression of the breadth of flavors that Etna can produce with a character that distills this unique growing environment in a glass, reflecting the variations of each vintage. The wines age in large, neutral oak barrels and are unfiltered, presenting an interpretation of nerello mascalese that is bright, pure, red-fruited, mineral, and herbaceous, and with age, it begins to lose its color and gain exotic aromas of camphor, sandalwood, and spice. The first vintage was in 2001. Starting with this vintage, Passorosso has been designated Etna Rosso DOC.
Andrea Franchetti arrived on Mt. Etna in 2000 as one of the first of the modern wave of producers arriving on the volcano. There he found seventy to one hundred year-old, bush-trained vines across the northern side of the volcano across a variety of optimal sites between 550 and 1,000 meters (1,800 to 3,300 feet) above sea level. The grapes are taken from various contrade (crus) of Malpasso, Guardiola, Santo Spirito, Favazza and Arcuria; generally, the higher crus are on a more gravelly soil, the lower ones in a deeper powder made with more oxidized, older lavas.

Think of this as a reduced strength version of the Solist Bourbon. One other key difference, this is bottled not as a single cask, but rather in batches. 46%.

It is incredibly smooth with a soft sweetness, losing the harshness and the alcohol edge and lingering over those unique flavours. It is clean and fresh tropical fruitiness with pleasant vanilla, coconut and spices.”
