The No. 12 is a high corn mash (84% corn, 8% rye, and 8% barley) Bourbon/Tennessee Whiskey produced by the Cascade Hollow Distillery of Cascade Hollow, Tennessee. The distillery was formerly named the George Dickel Distillery until it was changed in 2018.
Being a Tennessee Whiskey, George Dickel is put through the Lincoln County Process, where the new make spirit is filtered through sugar maple, charcoal before being put into barrels. Apparently, the Cascade Hollow distillery goes a step beyond just using this as a filtration/mellowing method and actually lets the new make steep for a period of time in the charcoal before running it through.
The George Dickel brand and Cascade Hollow Distillery are owned by Diageo, which is the largest spirits maker in the world, also owns the Bulleit and IW Harper brands of Bourbon, to name a few. Even the company would likely admit they are currently playing catchup in American Whiskey right now though, as it’s only Bourbon Distillery just recently started operations.

Glenmorangie Quinta Ruban

The Glenmorangie Quinta Ruban recently evolved from a 12 year old, into a 14 Year. Matured initially in ex-Bourbon, the wine is finished in Port casks before bottling at 46%. This whisky is replete with notes of chocolate and orange, which is derived from the finishing in port casks.
Producer Tasting Note
Aroma: Dark mint chocolate and Seville oranges mingle with sandalwood and walnut, with a spicy finish of pepper and nutmeg.
Taste: Mint chocolate and walnuts envelop the palate, laying the foundations for rose, Turkish delight and sweet Seville oranges.
Finish: Long-lasting, silky aftertaste leaving dark chocolate mints and traces of orange.
Andrew's Tasting Note - on the 12 Year
Nose: dried cherry and cranberry leap out of the glass; some musty old wood with dark chocolate, prune juice and cooked dates.
Palate: big, nutty and wood; more dark chocolate with some firm old leather and sweet Cuban tobacco; the musty old wood is still there with some licorice nibs and decadent spice.
Finish: medium-long and warming; the spicy oak holds on with a touch of chilli heat.
Comment: I forgot how interesting this whisky is; I am not generally a fan of Port matured or finished whiskies, but this one is good!

By “LOVE OF THE EARTH”, winemaker perfectionist, passionate and visionary he chose to respect the soil. The estate is organic in its entirety with a biodynamic approach in the land and cellar. The harvest is manual on the entire farm.
Christophe died in June 2015 at the age of 52.
Madeleine and their daughter Ambre have been pursuing for more than two years the work initiated by Christophe with the team he trained.
They chose to preserve the company to which they devoted themselves body and soul in the respect of the main objective: To produce the best wines possible.
Ideally located at the crossroads of Provence and Languedoc, the Domaine de la Mordorée produces some of the greatest wines of the Rhone Valley. Tavel where is located the cellar, Châteauneuf du Pape, Lirac, Côtes du Rhône, vin de France and Condrieu.
Passionate and in love with the wonderful bird that is the woodcock, we chose his nickname “poetic” to name the domain “La Mordorée”; four other nicknames: “La Remise”, “La Dame Rousse”, “La Dame Voyageuse” and “La Reine des Bois” symbolize the names of our 4 wines. As well as “la Plume du peintre” during exceptional vintage.
