Quinta Escrita Douro White
$34.99
One of the Douro's top producers of table wines! This wine is a blend of regional grapes, including Rabigato, Verdelho, Alvarinho, and Viognier. While the Douro is particularly renowned for its Ports, of course, it is also home to many fantastic table wine producers, such as Rui Roboredo Madeira, the maker of this white blend. Serve chilled with seafood, maybe a plate of grilled calamari with oregano.
Producer Description
"Quinta da Pedra Escrita estate is located in Freixo de Numão - Douro Superior, with an average altitude of 575 meters. The windy and dry soils of the Estate are predominantly of granite, sandy and very poor in nutrients. Here I grew my first vineyards, always believing that the granite soils give us wines with highly complex aromas and great longevity, like in the old times."

La Kiuva Rose Arnad Valle D`Aosta

It was created in 1975 and produced its first vintage in 1979. Today, it consists of just 60 growers who own a total of 25 hectares of vines (18 ha in DOC). Its total production is around 8000 cases. Most of the grower-members farm organically. Each grower tends to their small plot (not unlike Burgundy) while the co-operative’s agronomist oversees farming, ensuring the highest quality of viticulture is obtained," according to the American importer.

Writers Tears Single Pot Irish Whiskey
$113.99
Harmony and Evan tasted this and had to bring it in. This is a solid Single Pot Still Irish Whiskey! Bottled at 46%.
What is Single Pot Still Irish Whiskey you ask? It is whiskey made using a combination of malted and unmalted barley. Why do this you ask? Why, to dodge unfair taxation, of course! The Malt Tax came into being in Ireland for a short time starting in 1785, enforced by the (insert expletive said in your best Irish accent here) English. The Irish, being Irish, decided that they didn't need to use malted barley for the entirety of the mash used to distill whiskey and started adding portions of unmalted barley. Necessity being the mother of invention, this eventually became a legitimate style of whiskey-making that is now not just celebrated but codified into law in Ireland with the Single Pot Still Irish Whiskey classification.
Producer Description
"Originally matured in bourbon barrels, the triple-distilled, single pot still whiskey, was then further matured in Pedro Ximenez Sherry casks from Spain and Florio Marsala Hogsheads from Sicily, before being cut at a juicy 46% ABV."
