Anohka Progress Report #3
$44.99
From the Distillery;
"Nestled in the heart of picturesque Parkland County, Alberta our farm is located in the heart of some of the best barley growing conditions in the world. In fact, the Province of Alberta grows more barley than any country in the Western Hemisphere and almost three times more than Scotland.
Anohka was started with the intention of showing that we have a tremendous opportunity to make some of the best whisky in the world in the same place where we have some of the best growing conditions in the world."
48.5% ABV
Anohka Moose Hunter
$59.99
Notes from the Bottle;
IN HONOUR OF THOSE WHO ENDURE
Alice Campbell endured - through loss, through winter, through the wild's quiet test of will. Her strength lives on in every drop of Moose Hunter.
Aged 10 years beneath the wide Canadian sky, this deep and complex blend of Alberta whiskies carries the warmth of the hearth and the edge of the untamed North.
In honour of our Scottish roots and Canada's proud whisky tradition, we follow the 9.090% rule- weaving in a young , rich, bready, and fruity single malt, selected by her great-great-grandaughter, Michelle Ranu at Anohka Distillery, to complete the blend. The result is a finish longer than a northern winter's night.
Raise a glass: to the wild, the women, and to the fire that endures.

Whiskyland Ch.24 Cragganmore 36 Year
$1,664.99
Producer Description
"Waxiness is a mysterious but essential character of so many whiskies. In Whiskyland, the responsibility for it's successful imbuement lies with Max Wax. He's one of Whiskyland's most dedicated, dogged and unashamedly geeky public servants. We don't quite know what he gets up to in the stillrooms, worm tubs, spirit receivers and warehouses, but we know he's been responsible for some of Whiskyland's greatest waxbombs over the years. This utterly luscious 1989, 36 year old Cragganmore that has matured its whole life in a simple refill hogshead, is one of the finest example of his artistry."
Whiskyland Ch.26 Braeval 36 Year
$1,029.99
Producer Description
"As a new year dawns, the minds of this world, and of Whiskyland, turn towards thoughts, ideas, hopes and fears for the future. Some foresee a dark world of Imperial Dystopia! But, for most, there is hope for something brighter and more utopian, for a Braeval New World! This is a world that celebrates variety, diversity, respect, egalitarianism, quality, beauty, respect, thoughtfulness and tolerance. This is a Whiskyland that we all hope will come to pass, if the forces of darkness and homogenisation can be kept at bay... to inspire this vision is a beautiful 1989 Braeval, matured for 36 years in a refill hogshead and bottled at natural cask strength. Here's hoping...!"
Whiskyland Ch.22 Glen Grant 30 Year
$1,029.99
Producer Description
"Love exists in Whiskyland! Indeed, the two Glen Grants that make up Whiskyland Chapter Twenty Two, couldn't keep their staves off each other. This refill barrel and 1st fill sherry hogshead, though they weren't born in the same year, manage to get along like a warehouse on fire. Though they only met recently, they're looking forward to a lifetime of marriage and adventure in glass together. A luscious pairing, bottled without reduction, from a distillery we all seem to love."
Whiskyland Ch.30 Pittyvaich 35 Year
$1,074.99
44.3% - 1990 - First Fill Sherry Hogshead - 88.65ts Whiskybase
Producer Description: "There are some very lonely casks in Whiskyland... casks like this sherry hogshead of 35 year old Pittyvaich 1990: a lonesome wee dude! His distillery is closed and most of his chums and siblings are gone, scattered to the winds and whims of time. Thankfully, the Spirit Sprites are constantly at work in Whiskyland, searching out these lost wee wooden souls; guiding them with their light to life of company and good cheer in the great indie bottling hall in the sky. Just as well really, this particular cask is lusciously dark, sultry and full of soft, plummy dark fruits and earthy richness. An unusual sherried example of Pittyvaich and a beautiful old dram, full stop!"
Whiskyland Ch.31 Tamnavulin 34 Year
$964.99
48.7% - 1991 - First Fill Sherry Hogshead - 90.14pts, Whiskybase
Producer Description
"BEWARE: there are unexploded ordinance dotted throughout the landscape of Whiskyland. True Sherry bombs are scarce, but when you do happen to stumble across one, they can be detonated with the simple pulling of a cork and the results... well, just ask these discombobulated Dramblegeeks! If you are going to 'pull the pin' on this outrageous 1991, 34 year old Tamnavulin that has en-sultrified itself all its wood-clad years in a 1st fill sherry hogshead of epically old school proportions, then please do so from a safe distance, wearing appropriate dramming gear and be prepared to get 'properly walloped' by luscious old school sherry characteristics."
