The fine gent who launched this brand is not only a Keeper of the Quaich and long time whisky industry demi-god, he's also a local boy with his finger on the pulse 'round thses parts. In other words...Cut/Point may be new, but it's also already an old soul, and one that is easy to put stock in.
Benrinnes is a very hit or miss malt most of the time, but this particular cask is a real fireworks show. Cereal-forward with just enough cask influence to rein in the spirit. Refreshingly, left to be naked. It's a boozy, swaggering little beast in a style we don't see enough of. A bit challenging, and very retro.
Cask number 307387 was an ex-Bourbon Hogshead that yielded 298 bottles at 57.4%.
