This is an Irish mystery malt, with the original distillery behind the whiskey being kept secret. Walsh Whiskey - the company behind The Irishman and Writer's Tears brands - does not currently have a distillery, though one is in planning with the hope to open in 2026. Rumours usually go with the whiskey originally coming from Midleton Distillery or perhaps Bushmills Distillery. Only 5,000 bottles are released a year. The triple-distilled whiskey is bottled at 43% after maturing for at least 12 years in ex-Bourbon casks.

La Croix des Pins Dessous des Dentelles

La Croix des Pins is a co-operation located in Southern Rhone, in areas such as Ventoux, Vacqueryas, and, in this case, Gigondas. This vineyard is between 300 and 350 m of altitude in the heart of the Dentelles de Montmirail, a mountainous area in Southern Rhone. The soil is clay-limestone and the vineyards sit along some sunswept hillsides, where the grapes ripen easily. This wine is predominantly Grenache, with other Rhone varietals blended in. The wine is full of black cherry and candied raspberries, with a touch of minerality and licorice coming through on the palate.

Founded in 2003, the Poppy production is focused on bringing the beauty of Southern California to consumers across the globe. This particular Pinot Noir is sourced from Arroyo Seco, an ancient river bed in Monterey, where the vineyards are sheltered from the afternoon winds by the Santa Lucia mountain range. This allows for these particular vineyards to be warmer, allowing grapes to ripen further to create wines that a fuller, with more flavour intensity and more fruit. This wine sees some french oak that creates notes of oak spices on the palate, which are accompanied by ripe red berries, minerality and a touch of smoke.

Four Roses is finally back in Alberta - at least in its most basic form. This Kentucky Straight Bourbon utilizes all ten Bourbon recipes used at Four Roses Distillery from a combination of two different mash bills and five different yeast strains, it is bottled at 40% ABV.
This used be known as the Four Roses Yellow Label. The label is no longer yellow, and another recent change is the signature on the front. For years every bottle had legendary Master Distiller Jim Rutledge’s name on the front, but he left the distillery in 2015 and his protege Brent Elliott took over. Brent’s signature graces every bottle produced since then.
