Kensington Wine Market launched these whiskies exclusively in the fall of 2011 along with the Generations Glenlivet 70 Year. The whiskies are all great in their own right, and have gotten some great scores:1954 - 96pts Whisky Bible: "if there is a heaven I think I have just entered it." 1963 - 88pts. 1974 - 95.5pts: "sleek lines and elegant oomph..." 1980 - 85.5pts. 1991 - 93pts: "a faultless bottling."

Three crates of whisky had to be abandoned to the Antarctic winter in 1907. They were discovered a few short years ago, and two of the bottles were given to Whyte and MacKay, owners of the rights to the MacKinlays brand. Their master blender Richard Patterson, known as "nose" has painstakingly recreated the whiskies by blending together a number of Highland whiskies. Distilled in 1980 and bottled in 2014 at 47.1% after maturing in a Refill Sherry Butt, this whisky is exclusive to KWM in Canada. 504 bottles were filled by the Whisky Agency under The Perfect Dram label.
Andrew's Tasting Note
Nose: smells old, oaky and musty; you forgive me for drawing the analogy to opening dusty old books in an ancient library while sitting in a comfy leather sofa, but there you are; candied walnuts and pecans, gentle tobacco and dark bakers chocolate; there is Christmas cake, dark fruits and spices there, but they are playing coy.
Palate: big, fruity, leathery and chocolaty; bold but balanced sherry notes, big Christmas cake, rich dark fruits and spices; Cuban cigars, some salted licorice and a bit of the musty old oak and ancient dusty books picked up on the nose; with time it finds its groove, rich, fruity and nutty.
Finish: long, coating and elegant, not too powerful; leathers, dark fruits and chocolate.
Comment: a wonderful bottling at its age, and far from over the hill; a fine cigar malt!

Palate The richness of the first sip wraps itself nicely around your palate, the soft tones seem to go on and on as the malt unfolds to deliver honey and cream with soft vanilla notes, some sweet apple like flavours is complimented by a soft gentle hint of sweet spices.
Finish Truly outstanding as the finish has all the notes from the nose and middle palate, this dram is elegance in a glass that will leave you wanting more.

This limited edition release is the first 18 year old, and the oldest whisky to date to be bottled by the Isle of Arran Distillery since its founding in 1995. The whisky is a global release of just 9,000 bottles at 46%. It is the final whisky in the trilogy of 16, 17 and 18 years counting down to the launch of a core 18 year old expression. The whisky was matured exclusively in ex-Sherry Hogshead casks.
Distiller's Tasting Note
Aroma: Baked peaches with honey and toasted almonds. Sherry cask charring and subtle spice.
Palate: Waxy and coating with warmth of crystallized ginger and sweetness of crème brulee and caramelized brown sugar. Water uncovers floral notes, macadamia nuts and Seville orange marmalade.
Finish: Hazelnuts and nougat mingle with lightly toasted brioche and toffee apples.
