Bottled at 46% without colouring or chillfiltering (as if they would do it any other way), this Laddie has been finished in PX Sherry after maturing in American Oak. Its second name is 'La Noche Bocca Arriba', a short story by Julio Cortzar.
Distillery's Tasting Note
Nose: Stunning opening on notes of sultanas dusted with dark chocolate powder and this develops further as the Spanish influence takes centre stage bringing sunshine and life to the party with a fruit tapas of prune, dates, dark raisins and black cherries dipped in marmalade. PX is performing like a Spanish dancer, full of pride and passion, confident as the rising aromatics dazzle the senses.
Palate: Slowly the freshness of an Islay breeze arrives and mingles with the dark fruits creating air pockets that allow you to experience an incredible coming together of cultures. The citrus zestiness of Islay’s storm-lashed moorland character invites the Spanish party onto a new stage and it becomes an olfactory orchestration which opens the curtain for the softer green fruits of distillation. The coconut-vanilla toffee flavours of Kentucky plus the crisp sweetness of Scottish barley together arouse the soul and calm the fears. Three nations given time together have provided a spirit that leaves no single malt desires unfulfilled.
Finish: After twenty-one years in two different oaks, the mellowness of the spirit is spectacular. It’s a classic old style Bruichladdich whisky: handmade, Islay matured and in a wonderful twist the sherry emerges leaving you with that feeling of having experienced something unforgettable and rare.

Distiller's Tasting Note
Nose: The opening notes are of marinated pears, apricot, mango, spicy apple; then drifts of dark chocolate orange and espresso coffee can be detected together with vanilla-rich toffee. The seductive notes of old style malt whisky rise serenely; warm, reassuring and deceptively potent. The aromatics flirt shamelessly with the senses and then you realise that this is no ordinary spirit – it’s just so wonderfully fragrant. Gentle spices, citrus, dried fruit & herbs pop up like champagne bubbles keeping the mood one of celebration and joy.
Palate:Fantastique! The taste is rich and mellow. Many flavours continue to evolve – rich ripe apple, Turkish delight, soft strawberries, candied almonds and above all others that beguiling maltiness that is the mark of all Bruichladdich spirits. This, plus the coastal marine freshness adds life and vitality arousing the senses to an even higher level. You just know that this is authentic Islay heaven, simultaneously delicate and potent. The amorous embrace of France has not turned the islander's head. He remains mature and mellow while thoroughly enjoying the smouldering warmth of the femme fatale.
Finish: Ultra sexy, a rare and wonderful experience – if this was a movie it would have to be “Casablanca”. One to be enjoyed at the close of the day with others who share the same passion for the rare things in life.

Following the trend of the 2013 release, this new bottling marries heavy peat with a less aggressive approach on the palate, showing that it’s possible to match extreme smokiness with a gentle, rich and caressing mouth feel. The tarry and charred notes of Islay are well matched by a soft malty sweetness, and the accurate choice of oak casks increases complexity and the winey/vegetal/fruity background. It’s a well-orchestrated symphony of smoke against a tapestry of velvety autumnal aromas. Still very maritime, but in this edition – the best of recent years – the candied orange, heather honey, peanut, banana and pipe tobacco notes are almost as fascinating as the peat & sea spray. Andrew's Tasting Note
Nose: a surge of briny smoke, fresh squeezed lemons and thyme; round peated malt, sea salt, play-doh and burning brush.
Palate: very round, creamy and chewy, juicy orange, thick peated malt and Dutch licorice; reamed honey, more lemon juice, mescal, sea salt and play-doh; the brush smoke slowly builds.
Finish: barley sugars, clean smoke, vanilla cream, massive maritime tones, more Dutch licorice and tar.
Comment: young, but rich and layered; feisty but balanced.

Exclusive to Kensington Wine Market in Canada, this is a 17 year old mystery Speyside single malt, possibly Glenfarclas. It was matured in refill sherry wood for 17 years after being filled into cask in 1998. Only 264 bottles have been filled at 50.3%, with just a dozen coming to KWM.
Andrew's Tasting Note
Nose: floral, spicy and toasty with loads of fruit; soft leather, Sunrype fruit bars and eating Eatmore chocolate bars in the sauna.
Palate: rich, fruity and leathery with rich tobacco and spices; Christmas cake, candied fruit and more condensced Sunrype fruit bars; more Eatmore and cedar with citrus and a tinge of smoke.
Finish: medium long, ctirus, leather, tobacco and dark spices; warming and tingly.
Comment: rich with some nice layers, another great Whisky Agency bottling.
