Port Charlotte is the name Bruichladdich distillery gave to its heavily peated single malt, with the hopes that it would eventually come from its own distillery (under construction) PC7 has been matured in a mix of Bourbon and Sherry casks. Official tasting note: "Palate: The peaty flavour is rich and vibrant reaching deep onto the palate accompanied by dark warm molasses with hints of dates and bitter chocolate. The second layer brings the moor land mossy flavours bringing complexity and contrast weaving beautifully with the smoke, and then the marine breezes add their unique freshness, lifting the senses on an updraft of the Queen of the Hebrides."
Bruichladdich X4

In 1693 in the outer Hebrides Martin Martin encountered a quadruple distilled spirit called "usquebaugh-baul" or "perilous whisky": "two spoonfuls of this last liquor is a sufficient dose; and if any man should exceed this, it would presently stop his breath, and endanger his life." X4 although potent, is not quite so dangerous as that which Martin Martin sampled, that said it packs a punch. On Islay in September 2008 my reaction was simply: "Wow!"
Bruichladdich DNA

"DNA the Ultimate Essence of Bruichladdich" Another beautifully-presented Bruichladdich, DNA represents the last of the late 1960s and early 1970s casks acquired when the new owners took over. Matured mainly in bourbon cask with a small proportion of sherry casks, DNA has been finished in wine casks from cult claret Le Pin. The whisky is 36 years old, bottled at 41% and limited to 900 sequentially numbered bottles.

Bruichladdich Golder Still

This is the 3rd and final bottling of a Bruichladdich trilogy that also included the Blacker Still '06 and Redder Still '07 bottlings. Matured in some unusual squat hogsheads used by American coopers before they settled on the standard hogshead size. It has given a particularly attractive golden hue and barley sugar flavour to the whisky. This bottling is limited to approx 4,900 bottles world-wide.
Springbank 1996 KWM Manzanilla Cask

This was the first of two 1996 vintage Springbank sherry casks selected by and bottled exclusively for KWM was matured 12 years in a Manzanilla Sherry cask (#258), bottled at 56.4%. The second was a 13-year-old Oloroso Sherry sister cask, bottled at 55.8%.

"Our most recent cask purchase is a 1996 vintage Springbank matured in a Manzanilla sherry cask. 600 bottles (400 of which have sold) were produced by our cask, the first private bottling of Springbank in Canada! 56.4%. In September of 2008, our Scotchguy Andrew Ferguson and 6 whisky enthusiasts from Calgary paid a visit to Springbank distillery in Campbeltown. They selected this cask of whisky from a selection of 5 different casks, each of them a different type of sherry cask."
