There are definitely not enough cool expressions of Bruichladdich hitting our shores lately. And worse still, there are even fewer naked Laddies out there. (Those not draped in the richness of wine casks, that is.) Not that those ones can't be fun, but ex-Bourbon is where you really see the soul of a distillery. Fortunately, Bruichladdich really shines when left to its own devices. This is probably the most exciting of the recent R&BT range, but we should warn you that the outturn from barrel #1433 was a mere 154 bottles. They won't last long.
Natural colour, non-chill filtered, and bottled at 52.1% abv. Although it is not explicitly mentioned, there is a connection between Mark Reynier, and the Rest & Be Thankful Whisky Co. This link goes back to the days when Mark was the mastermind behind the scenes of Bruichladdich's revival, and it followed him to Ireland and the establishment of the Waterford Distillery. Are these Mark's personal casks? Could be...!

Limit 1 Per Customer! There is a little bit of mystery about this Islay single malt, but if you recognize the charming woman on the label, you'll recognize immediately that this must be an Ardbeg. Matured in a Refill Barrel for 31 years before bottling at 50.6%.

"Introducing the first in a new, limited mini-series called Islay Sponge. A celebration of all things whacky and wonderful about Islay and it's tasty whiskies. This is a single refill barrel of 1990 unnamed Islay single malt - although it is almost certainly from a distillery on the south shore of the Island. It's peaty, coastal and fruity in all the right ways! Part 1 features the legendary Jackie T and a youthful, side-burned Sponge."

Lagavulin Distillers Edition 2022

It's a shame how scarce Lagavulin has become. The distillery just doesn't seem to have the stocks to keep the market wet at this point in time. Not to mention, we're not getting a lot of help from our local importers either. When the 2022 Distillers Edition showed up a few weeks back, we were quick to snap it up, because I think we all know by now that any Lagavulin is good Lagavulin.
This should be a particularly interesting version of the Distillers Edition; it's no longer the 16-year-old with a PX finish (read: almost 17 years), it's now a non-age-stated whisky with an undeclared finishing period. While that almost sounds like a bad thing, the reviews are better for this one than previous, older editions. Not to mention, for those that like their Islay malts to have a little more punching power, it's best to drink them a bit younger. The longer that liquid sits in those beautiful old warehouses, the softer the smoke becomes.
Shame about the 43%, but at this point, beggars can't be choosers.

Bottled at 49% and four years of age, this is the third batch of Millstone Single Malt to be bottled by That Boutique-y Whisky Compony. The whisky comes from two combined first fill PX Hogsheads that were filled with Millstone's peated single malt, then selected by Patrick Van Zuidam and Boutique-y for this bottling.

The white swan is a nod to the late Dr. Jim Swan who gave the distillery guidance, reviewing their equipment, and techniques, proposing a series of small changes."

Bottled at Natural Cask Strength (NCS) 48.7% abv (yes - a very high ‘Angels Share’) we’re expecting around 345 bottles out of this cask."

"Anna and Martina feature living above the distillery, as they did in the old days. The town of Zorge, where the distillery lies, has an old legend of a wingless dragon called the Hazelworm residing in the nearby mountains. The distillery is subject to a rather ludicrous amount of German regulations. Their spirit safe is locked within another spirit safe. Every single possible opening is locked down with padlocks, hundreds of them in total!"
