Distiller's Tasting Note
Nose: Unhurried and warming, yet surprisingly mellow. Fresh and cleansing, with malty, grainy cereal, crisp-breads topped with icing sugar and sherbet lemon sweets. Behind this there’s a dried herbal note and a maritime, distant scent of the sea. A reassuring fresh tang floats above fluffy marshmallow and vanilla, before late top notes of strawberry appear, which become chalky and minty, with milk chocolate. Water introduces old-fashioned oilskins; it’s heady, herbal and sweet, like a victoria sponge filled with cream and strawberry jam.
Palate: Smooth and very sweet to taste, then salt toffee with chilli. Warming, sweet and prickly with lovely early liquorice and dark chocolate notes. All this is delicate at first, but soon firming and expanding on the palate, growing appetisingly herbal, with lots of cough candy and dried raisin fruit. With water it is very easy to drink; lightly oily, fresher, sweet and fragrantly fruity, with appetising saltiness (that maritime note again).
Finish: Medium length, clean and elegantly sustained throughout. Warming, with supple tannins, becoming dryer and more fragrant, with hints of juniper, leading to late eucalyptus. With water, there’s a clean, fresh, aftertaste.

A single cask Bladnoch distilled in 1989 and bottled after 24 years from a Bourbon Barrel, cask 30051 at 59.3%. Exclusive to KWM in Calgary, only 18 bottles came into the market. This whisky is from a closed distillery, the southernmost in Scotland.
Andrew's Tasting Note
Nose: intensely floral, citic and toasty with pineapple and citric sugars; long, toasty and dusty with milk chocolate and white fruits.
Palate: big, floral and toasty, more crisp citrus and pineapple; lots of honey and barley sugars with some licorice and white fruits.
Finish: long, oily and coating with dark spices and light fruits.
Adelphi BenRiach 1990

This single cask of BenRiach was unusually mautred in a ex-wine cask from South Africa, estimated to be 300L. The whisky is 23 years of age and was 52.9% at the time of bottling. KWM is only getting 6 bottles!
Producer's Description: "A dry nose, almost meaty (pork crackling), becoming more Marsala like. Jaffacakes, Black Forest Gâteau, chocolate ice cream and coffee grounds - all synonymous with long, sherried maturation. It starts relatively closed then develops huge complexity, now with Brazil nuts coated in dark chocolate, molasses, saddle soap and old leather bags. Incredibly viscous to taste, with a spicy mouth feel, gently drying over a palate of chocolate bonbons, toffee sauce (possibly slightly burnt), and a hint of brandy snaps. A very rare and unique single cask whisky ideal for after dinner contemplation."

Glenturret has perhaps the best claim to being Scotland's oldest operating distillery. The bulk of the whisky goes into blends like Famous Grouse. This 1988 single cask was filled into an Ex-Bourbon Hogshead and has been bottled after 25 years at 51.8%.

Nose: an assortment of all Jelly Belly flavours, Wine Gums and rich sherry notes; some classic Christmas cake, cinnamon hearts and candied finger and black licorice Nibbs; wet leather and Fruit Source bars.
Palate: big but balanced sherry notes; more Wine Gums, a fist full of assorted Jelly Bellys all at once, more Fruit Source and building spices: more cinnamon hearts, candied ginger and licorice; leathery with tobacco and antique sherry notes.
Finish: long, fruity, spicy and leathery with cigar tobacco.
Producer's Description: "Vivid butterscotch to start, fading through mild cheese, possibly cheese cloth or an old dairy, then eucalyptus and sandalwood. Very old fashioned. Dampness in a traditional dunnage maturation warehouse (full of old sherry butts). Hessian coal sacks. Very sweet to start, drying with more hessian and a mouth cooling eucalyptus. Water emphasises cream cheese and old warehouses - an increasingly old fashioned style of whisky. The hessian is now soaked in old whisky, more like bung cloth. Sweet to start, then distinctly savoury - the elusive Umami? A remarkable rare old whisky."

Arran Bere Barley 2004 Cask Strength

Only 4,890 bottles have been released world-wide of Arran's 2nd release in the Bere Barley series. Bere barley is Scotland's oldest surviving varietal, thought to have been brought over by the Vikings, it is ideal for growing in the cool wet northern parts of Scotland. Common in the 1800's, it survives only on a few northern islands. The whisky was produced exclusively from Bere Barley, matured in American oak and bottled at 56.2%.
Andrew's Tasting Note
Nose: oily with Manuka honey, wet germinating malt; floral heather, silty soil and potpourri; raw American oak and peanut butter and root beer Jell Belly flavours.
Palate: intensely creamy, toasty and nutty right off the bat; more wet partially malted barley, wet green grasses, honey and vanilla extract; oily and coating with candied orange and a hint of clove; more tropical fruits under the oak: pineapple and melons.
Finish: coating silky oils, big toasty oak with more chewy malt.
