Producer Tasting Note
Nose: An initial hit of guava and kiwi fruit is joined by Arbroath smokies. Dried mango follows, with sultanas and raisins intertwined with lightly aromatic smoke.
Palate: Dense and creamy with background notes of seaside rock pools and beach bonfires. Toffee and salted caramel sit on top of layers of mango and blood orange.
Finish: Long and juicy with soft hints of woodsmoke and citrus.

Tasting Note from Whisky Pages: "This 1978 vintage release from The Dalmore spent 29 years in American white oak before being transferred into Gonzales Byass ex-Sherry casks for two years of additional maturation. The out-turn is 477 bottles. The nose offers freshly-ground coffee, marzipan, dark berries, and rich Sherry, with milk chocolate and Jaffa oranges. The addition of water teases out smokier notes. Soft fruits and more milk chocolate, with roasted almonds on the rich, sweet palate. Long and juicy in the finish, with fruit pastilles, a hint of aniseed and coffee with cream." 4 Stars

The vatting is a combination of 26 Year Old Caol Ila matured in ex-bourbon American oak and 35 Year old sherry cask Glenallachie. This is the first time John Glaser has ever blended sherry cask matured whisky in one of his creations. Notes of lobster, dipped in cooked butter, dry, but clean smoke from a seaside campfire; candied fruit, white chocolate and salty smoke all dance on the palate with tingling spices.

COSMO WITH PERFUME SAMPLES
A Northern Highlander 11 years in a Refill Hoggy has left it at 56.8%.
Panel's Tasting Note: "One panellist got glossy magazines from the nose – "Cosmo with perfume samples" corrected another. Other comments included pineapple cubes, garibaldi biscuits, wax, rock salt and garden aromas of grass and flowers. On the palate, we identified milk chocolate and refreshers, something meaty and savoury (biltong?) sharp fruits (kiwi, star-fruit), light smoke and salt. Water altered the nose (waxed lemons, green apples, rosebud tea, lemon bonbons) and improved the palate, transforming it to a deliciously sweet dram with floral elements and slivers of citrus sharpness – like rose and lemon Turkish delight. This Brora distillery commands fine views of the North Sea."
