Angus' Notes
"This devilishly delicious double O.O. dram for one of our friends at The Sindicate Club in Canada. A combination of a 1998 vintage Refill Hogshead which has been 'top dressed' with some Orkney malt from a 1999 vintage First Fill Sherry Butt. These two components were married together in the Refill Hoggie and the resulting heady brew was bottled with a few degrees of reduction at 53% to help bring balance to the final 17 year old malt. The result is a waxy and richly-peated example of Old Orkney, with some savoury, earthy richness from the subtle sherry influence. a whisky to make you go 'O.O.LALA!"

Highland Park 12 Year
$79.99
Highland Park, the northernmost of Scotland's distilleries, dates back to 1798. Definitely an island style with typical smokiness, but with elements of a classic single malt that include a smoothness, roundness and heather-honey accent all its own. Very capable of developing to great ages, the distillery is now making available some older vintages which display considerable depth and richness.
Producer Description
"Matured predominantly in European and American sherry seasoned oak casks, our iconic 12 Year Old single malt whisky is spicy and well-rounded, packed with the flavours of sun-kissed Seville oranges and rich fruitcake spiced with cinnamon, nutmeg and cloves; you’ll find molten heather honey in this whisky’s waves of heathery peat smoke. Why not try it with a handful of wasabi peas on the side or alongside a sizzling, pan-fried rib-eye steak or with smoked salmon and sour cream."

Producer Description
"Named Best Spirit in the World in the Spirit Journal, on two separate occasions, the intense balance of the flavours found in VIKING PRIDE owes everything to our five traditional keystones of production, honoured for over 220 years. Slow-burning, aromatic peat from Hobbister Moor; hand turned floor maltings, Sherry seasoned European oak casks, cool maturation in our temperate island climate and a long and unhurried harmonisation process. Like our founder, Magnus Eunson, we share our Viking ancestors’ commitment to skilled craftsmanship as well as their proud, independent spirit."

Consistently one of the best single malts in the world. Heather & honey on the nose, w/ hints of sap, peat, smoke & fresh oak. Lightly salty on the palate with layers of flavor. Amazing finish.
