Kilchoman Sanaig
$109.99
The Kilchoman Sanaig was featured on Day Ten of our 2022 KWM Whisky Calendar. You can find the blog post on it here.
Also available in 50ml / Mini bottles
The Sanaig is part of Kilchoman's regular release lineup along with the Machir Bay. Kilchoman Sanaig, which is named after an Inlet off the NorthWest coast of Islay, is made from a combination of about 20% ex-Bourbon casks and 80% ex-Sherry Casks - mostly Oloroso Sherry in style. We have noticed the colour on this dram has gotten a fair bit darker over the past few years - possibly due to more first-fill ex-Sherry casks being used... Bottled at 46%.
From the Distillery
"Sanaig, a small rocky inlet North West of the distillery is the name given to this continuously available release. Sanaig has a predominantly sherry cask influence owing to the significant time spent in oloroso sherry Hogsheads. These aged oloroso casks contribute a drastically transformed depth of colour and character compared to the mostly Bourbon cask matured Machir Bay. “A beautiful marriage of bourbon and sherry maturation balanced with classic Islay peat smoke and light citrus sweetness” Anthony Wills, Founder.
Paltrinieri Piria Lambrusco di Sorbara
$28.99
A fun, dry, fizzy wine from Italy's Emilia-Romagna region! This red sparkling wine is called Lambrusco, and it's fantastic served chilled with a plate of smoky barbecued ribs or some charcuterie. From a family-owned winery near Modena that has been making great wines for more than three generations. Bracing acidity and cranberry notes make this one stand out.
Paltrinieri Solco Lambrusco
$29.99
So much fun to drink! This dry, delicious fizz is dark purple-red in hue and hails from Italy's Emilia-Romagna region, just outside of the city of Modena. Pair with Italian cold cuts or barbecued steak, ribs, Italian sausages. You get the picture. From a family-owned winery that has been making fine vino for three generations.
Pietradolce Archineri Nerello Mascalese
$79.99
A simply outstanding red wine from the slopes of Sicily's famous Mt. Etna. Look for berry notes and herbs on the palate, and hints of flowers on the nose. Here's what Robert Parker's Wine Advocate has to say about this winery: "Pietradolce is my new Etna darling. This estate has always been on my radar, but the wines have never tasted as good as they do now. Michele Faro and his team (winemaker Carlo Ferrini is a consultant) have made impressive leaps and bounds in quality - from the stunning historic vineyards they own to the immaculately designed gravity winery that is coated with slabs of volcanic stone... Located in Solicchiata on the northern side of the volcano, Pietradolce boasts some of the most beautiful vineyards I have ever seen. I cannot exaggerate this point."
Yellow Spot Irish Whiskey
$137.99
The older sibling of Green Spot. The Yellow Spot is a Single Pot Still Irish Whiskey that is at least 12 years old.
What is Single Pot Still Irish Whiskey you ask? It is whiskey made using a combination of malted and unmalted barley. Why do this you ask? Why, to dodge unfair taxation, of course! The Malt Tax came into being in Ireland for a short time starting in 1785, enforced by the (insert expletive said in your best Irish accent here) English. The Irish, being Irish, decided that they didn't need to use malted barley for the entirety of the mash used to distill whiskey and started adding portions of unmalted barley. Necessity being the mother of invention, this eventually became a legitimate style of whiskey-making that is now not just celebrated but codified into law in Ireland with the Single Pot Still Irish Whiskey classification.

Domaine Lafage Novellum Chardonnay
$26.99
"A custom Cuvee created by importer Eric Solomon, the IGP Cotes Catalanes Novellum is a smokin’ value that’s made from 100% Chardonnay that spent three months in a tank (on Viognier lees) followed by three months in barrel. Tasting like it cost three times the price, it offers lots of orchard fruits, white peach, honeysuckle and a hint of vanilla to go with a medium to full-bodied, crisp, yet still textured and mouth-filling style on the palate. You can’t go wrong at the price and this is a terrific wine to enjoy over the coming year or two." Wine Advocate
Willi Schaefer Graacher Kabinett
$88.99
Willi, who was born in 1949, made his first vintage in 1971, then still with his father. During Willi’s career, the Schaefer wines achieved an international reputation. The winery, as it exists today, is also the life’s work of Martha (1924-2013) and Willibrord Schaefer (1912-1995). In the difficult post-war period, they built today’s manor and farm buildings and produced, even at that time, outstanding wines. The family's vineyards are located in Graacher Dompropst and Graacher Himmelreich, as well as in Wehlener Sonnenuhr. The plots are located on steep slate slopes and consist of up to 100-year-old, ungrafted vines. Graacher Domprobst roughly translates to the Kingdom of Heaven. The Graacher Dompropst vineyard is classified as a VDP. GROSSE LAGE vineyard, the designation for the highest quality Mosel vineyards. Due to the topography, the kingdom of heaven is protected against wind and frost. In addition, the warming of the slate soil causes uniform and complete maturity. Many water veins ensure an optimal supply of moisture for the vines. Rieslings from Graacher Domprobst are typically silky and charming, in harmony with fine fruit acidity and minerality. The scent is often characterized by citrus, yellow and white peach. In addition, the clay content in the soil gives these plants their distinctive, powerful character. Giving them time to age will reward them with even more elegance and mineral finesse.
Huber Gelber Muskateller
$31.99
This is one of the oldest grape varieties in the world, of which there are numerous different types – especially in Italy. Roter (red) Muskateller and Gelber (yellow) Muskateller are differentiated by the colour of their berries. It's fully dry, a really refreshing style of white wine from a top tier producer.
"A typical fragrance of balm and mandarine- rinds. Fresh, clear and very balanced on the palate…. A nice combination of minerals, lively acid and sweet fruitiness," according to the winemaking team. Pair with salads, chicken, turkey or asparagus.
