Mac Forbes has become one of the great champions of sub-regional expressions from the Yarra Valley. With a prime focus on chardonnay and pinot noir, Forbes set about mapping the intricacies of the Yarra through an array of prime sites that he leases and meticulously manages. It's bright, ethereal Yarra Valley red with a very moderate 11.5% alcohol. It features vibrant notes of wild cherry, cranberry, and summer florals, balanced by fine-grained tannins and a crisp, savory finish.

Moraine is derived from the geological term for the glaciated white clay buffs that comprise the breathtaking Naramata Bench. Also known as “boulder clay“, Moraine is a deposit of clay which is formed beneath glaciers and ice-sheets during the Glacial Period in North America, specifically, in the Okanagan Valley as we know it today. As a result, these glaciated white clay cliffs comprise the wondrous Naramata Bench and inspire the winery’s land-formed name. This is estate-grown pinot noir from their Sophia Vineyard. Hand-picked and fermented in small 1-ton vats. Complex and layered with bright, tangy notes of raspberry, darker elements of black cherry and mulberry, and a subtle undercurrent of cedar and toast. Fine tannins balance this elegant, medium-bodied pinot noir.

Meyer Family Vineyards wines are produced from two main vineyards, the 1.62-hectare “Old Main Road” vineyard on the Naramata Bench and the 6.9-hectare “McLean Creek Road” vineyard in Okanagan Falls. The "Old Block" Pinot Noir is one of the original vineyard plantings from 1994 and is part of the largest block of Pinot Noir at their estate vineyard on McLean Creek Road in Okanagan Falls.

Just gorgeous, gorgeous, gorgeous. "A rich garnet in colour, the nose is bursting of lingonberry, Bing cherry and sweet anise alongside floral notes of crushed rose petal and violet. Ripe raspberry and dark plum emerge on the palate with an intriguing graphite minerality on the finish. All sourced from our single vineyard estate, select Pinot Noir blocks were handpicked and vinified in small lots using entirely wild fermentation. The small batches were then placed into a selection of new and seasoned French oak barriques for 12 months and blended, unfined and unfiltered, just prior to bottling. Although enjoyed in its youth we see this wine aging gracefully over the next 7 to 10 years," according to the winery. And we agree!
