About The Whisky Trail
"The Whisky Trail is a collection of young and old casks, taking drinkers off the beaten path of whisky. Only whiskies that demonstrate the most exceptional characteristics are hand-selected to be bottled as part of the Whisky Trail range, and with each cask as unique as a fingerprint, no two expressions will ever be the same. To ensure each whisky maintains its full flavour and cask character, we never chill-filter or add colour."
700 mlAndrew's Tasting Note
Nose: dark, creamy, and decadent with tart berry fruits; Manuka honey, chocolate Turtles, and caramel almond clusters; wine gums, Saskatoon pie and blackberry jam; fruit by the foot and dried apple chunks.
Palate: big, rich, and spicy with loads of sweets; dark chocolate almond and coconut clusters, more milk chocolate Turtles; fresh cooling mint and a twinge of iron; candied fennel, cinnamon hearts, and licorice goodies; both wine gums and jujubes, as well as the Saskatoons and blackberry; beer nuts, roasted almonds, and maple walnuts; really toasty with firm oak spice.
Finish: warming, spicy, and nutty with lots of toasted oak and sweet chocolate treats.
Comment: this must have been first-fill because it is rocking and rollin'... fruity, spicy, and chocolaty, with just a hint of that hint of iron note I get in many a young Blair Athol; this is a single malt for Bourbon fans!
Producer Tasting Note
Nose: Sweet toasted oak with blackcurrant and honey coming through. Lovely warm spice develops with time in the glass.
Palate: Crunchy Nut Cornflakes at first with a lovely blossom honey water note and ripe blueberries coming through. Almost chewy in texture.
Finish: Dried mint and raspberry leaf tea with lingering tannins."
