A cool variation on what's coming out of Kentucky's Casey Jones Distillery, home of the square copper pot still. This is spirit that has been distilled from 'corn and cane' (catchy, right?), matured in new oak, then shifted over to ex-Bourbon Barrels for a last bit of polishing. It's obviously not Bourbon, but it is delicious. Matured for up to 4 years, before bottling at 53.5%

Casey Jones is relatively new in our market, but for those with a love of history (especially as relates to whiskey, prohibition, and early distillation), a visit to the brand's website is well worthwhile. We tasted through a range of CJ products recently and greenlit all of 'em. This Kentucky Straight Bourbon is a high corn / low rye mash bill that drinks beyond the declared 2.3 years indicated on the bottle. 56%

The whisky staff at KWM recently had a chance to try this bottle when Cody from the distillery was travelling through Alberta. Like the rest of the Casey Jones lineup, this is very well put together and drinks superbly even in relative youth. The Wheated Bourbon is made from a four-grain mash bill that includes 26.5% Bloody Butcher Corn, 26.5% Yellow Dent Corn, 35% Wheat, and 12% Malted Barley. It is aged for at least three years and bottled at 55%.
