Originally developed in the cool wine regions of Germany in the mid-1700s, Icewine is ideally suited to the Niagara peninsula climatic conditions. Grapes are left on the vine well into the winter months. The resulting freezing and thawing dehydrates the fruit, and concentrates the sugars, acids, and extracts in the berries, thereby intensifying the flavors and adding complexity. Uniquely Canadian!

This prestigous domaine and family has been producing Champagne for over 500 years. The name of Royal Réserve goes back to the ancestors of the Philipponnat family, vineyard owners, wine-merchants and winemakers, suppliers to Louis XIV, magistrates and Royal Mayors of Ay. Ity's a blend of 65% Pinot Noir, 30% Chardonnay, 5% Pinot Meunier. The 2019 Clerget Volnay is matured in 20% new oak and is completely de-stemmed. It offers darker fruit compared to the Volnay Village with raspberry wild strawberry and cranberry. Hints of briary and sous-bois develop in the glass. The palate is medium-bodied with a vibrant element of blood orange suffusing the bright red fruit with a slightly chalky textured finish. Very good tension throughout this Volnay that should give 15-20 years of drinking pleasure. (Drink between 2022-2040).
