Weingutt Knoll Loibner-Gruner Veltliner
$57.99
There is hardly another vineyard that has shaped the perception of the Wachau as a serious high-quality wine-growing region as strongly as that of the Knoll family. Many generations of this family have dedicated their lives to growing wine: the first glass bottles were filled with Knoll wine in the 1950s, and the arguably most famous wine label in Austria – the family’s trademark baroque image of Saint Urban – first graced the Knoll wine bottles in 1962.
The family cultivates wine on sixteen hectares, and the names of his terraces have become common knowledge among both national and international wine drinkers: the Kellerberg, Loibenberg, Pfaffenberg and especially the Schütt yield the fruit for the famous range of Knoll Riesling and Veltliner, which are all clear, precise, mineral-rich and structured, frequently revealing their full potential after years or even decades.
Querciabella Mongrana Bianco Vermentino
$24.99
In 1974, Giuseppe (Pepito) Castiglioni – an industrial entrepreneur and lifelong wine lover – bought a single hectare of vineyard on a Tuscan hillside and set about creating an estate that would soon span the breadth of the region. He dreamed of producing elegant, rich wines, made not only from native Sangiovese grapes but also from those of his beloved Bordeaux and Burgundy… Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Chardonnay, and Pinot Blanc, to name a few. Today, that single hectare in Tuscany is just a small part of the more than 100 hectares of the Querciabella vineyards. And throughout these vibrant vineyards – flanked in the Chianti Classico region by oak forests and rolling hills, and in Maremma by the rough beauty of an unspoilt Tuscan coastline – all of the grape varieties Pepito dreamed of now thrive in the rich, biodynamic soil that has become the single most important ingredient in Querciabella’s numerous wines.
Javillier Pulig. Montrachet Levrons
$176.99
The Javallier story started in Meursault, after the war in 1945 when Raymond Javillier decided to cultivate 2 ha. of plots which had always belonged to the family. Throughout the 1980s and early 1990s, the estate acquired new plots and the addition of land which belonged to the family of his wife, Catherine. In 2005, Marion, the elder daughter of Patrick, joined the domain after studies in management and winegrowing with the responsibility for sales and the winemaking process of the red wines. In 2011, Pierre-Emmanuel Lamy, the husband of Laurène (Marion’s sister) also joined the domain, in charge of the fieldwork and winemaking process of the white wines. Today, Marion and Pierre-Emmanuel are the third generation to benefit from and develop the family tradition. Javallier makes some of the finest white wines in Burgundy.
