This is Grant Stevely's classic Noteworthy Gin, at Navy Strength, 57%. Distilled at his Dubh Glas (Douglas, in Gaelic form) Distillery in Olivery, British Columbia. It is Stevely's classic cocktail gin at a much higher strength, and in a cute 375ml bottle!
From the producer: "Our award winning Noteworthy Gin is our initial signature release which is a hand-crafted, small batch gin made from 100% British Columbian grown barley, carefully fermented in stainless steel and then transferred to our German copper pot still. The Armagnac House Castarède was founded in 1832 and remains in the same family to this day. It is now headed by Florence Castarede, who is the sixth generation of the Castarède family in charge of the Armagnac house. Castarède has an impressive selection of vintages still available, with consecutive vintages from 2003 back to the 1890s.
The vineyards are in the heart of the Bas-Armagnac region and are planted with a variety of grapes: Folle Blache, Colombard and Saint-Emillion. Castarede Armagnacs then get aged in black oak barrels in the family's ancient cellars, before a little bit finds its way to Canada for fans like us!

"This is one of the most spectacular vineyards I’ve ever seen: Silberberg really is a Silver Mountain. Sadly, it is sparsely planted anymore, most grape growers long abandoned the steep low-yielding hill in favor of flatter, easier to farm sites. The vines that are still there are well over fifty years old and have their roots deep in schist and quartz. Higher density plantings keep yields perfectly in check. Bindi Dixon Pinot

"The Bindi Dixon Pinot Noir is based upon declassified grapes from the Original Vineyard planted in 1988 and grapes from the new Block K, planted in 2001. The ideal of this wine is to produce a delicious, perfumed, spicy harmonious, textured wine that is not as intense, complex nor ageworthy as our individual vineyard wines. Even when the outstanding Block K vines are older we will continue to declassify sections or barrels from each vineyard and produce this wine.
The wine is fermented the same way as our other Pinot Noirs in that it is ostensibly 100% de-stemmed and gently worked in small open vats. The wine spends 11 months in French barrels, of which about 10-15% is new.
Production varies from 500-700 dozen per vintage.

Gran Orendain Anejo

Marcela Orendain Gonzalez is the sister of Eduardo and Jamie of Arette. Marcela does things a little differently in her distillery Casa Mexicana. Gran Orendain is triple distilled, making for a light, delicate, and drier spirit of high quality. The French oak used for maturation is different than the typical ex-bourbon in that it gives a more mild and spicy profile with earthy hints and allows the spirit itself to show off.
