"Taylor Fladgate Port is proud to announce the release of its new Taylor Fladgate Sentinels Vintage Port, a unique blend crafted from wines produced on Taylor Fladgate's historic properties in and around the Pinhão Valley. This central region of the Douro Valley is one of the most historically significant areas for Port wine, recognized as the source of the finest Ports since the inception of the Port trade.
The four estates—Terra Feita, Junco, Casa Nova, and Eira Velha—are all located within the original 1756 demarcation and were awarded feitoria status, the highest classification for Port vineyards. The name Sentinels is inspired by the granite pillars, known as “marcos de feitoria”, which stand guard along the demarcation line that separates the highest quality Port areas, and this is where many of the Taylor Fladgate’s estates are situated. A total of 335 stone posts were placed between 1758 and 1761 to mark this prestigious area.
Each of these historic properties offers distinct characteristics in terms of altitude, orientation, sun, wind exposure, and mix of grape varietals. Despite their individuality, they share a distinctive 'Pinhão Valley' style—rich, deep, and powerfully fruity—that ensures a harmonious blend while each contributes uniquely to the wine's overall complexity and aroma."

"This is Decadent Drinks' attempt at something of a more 'traditional' Cognac bottling. It was created using Cognacs from the Petite and Grand Champagne terroirs (hence 'Fine Champagne), with the youngest components hailing from the late 1980s and the oldest going back, via the 1970s, to the early 1960s. The resulting small-batch assemblage was bottled at natural marrying strength as our version of a 'Hors d'Age' Cognac. It is lusciously fruity, with clear notes of honeys, flowers, tobacco and a balance of rancio notes with subtle woody undertones that add a little weight. Beautiful, old Cognac for contemplative sipping in your slippers and dressing gown, in other words.
Whisky Trail Glen Keith 20 Year KWM Cask

This 1996 vintage Glen Keith was matured 20 years in a Sherry Butt before bottling at 46.6%. Only 24 bottles have come to Canada, exclusively for Kensington Wine Market. But while our logo is on the label, there are just 24 bottles, meaning this isn't your typical KWM cask... so what's the story?!
More than a year ago, while looking at some casks with Elixir Distillers, we were offered 24 bottles of a 1996 Glen Keith, bottled at 20 years of age, presumably in 2016 or 2017. We assumed it was a single cask, bottled for another of Elixir Distillers' clients. In any case, the whisky was good, and the price was fair so we decided to take it.
On arrival, we did a little digging, and came upon an interesting coincidence. We don't know this for sure, but we can only find two other 20 year old 1996 vintage Glen Keiths bottled at 46.6%, and they were both done for the Whisky Exchange, which was owned by Elixir Distillers at the time. One of them appears to have been bottled for the 20th Anniversary of the Whisky Exchange in 2019, and the other, presumably the same year, as a Staff Christmas bottle, also marking the 20th Anniversary.
The most likely explanation, is that ours is the same whisky. In any case it is excellent, and we aren't getting very much of it!

Glengoyne White Oak Single Malt

Glengoyne Distillery is well known for using high quality ex-sherry casks to mature much of their whisky. This White Oak release flips the script on that premise, though, and shows an intriguingly different side to Glengoyne's Single Malt. If you haven't tried this and the more limited (and of course more expensive) Glengoyne 24 Year Old White Oak yet, then you should.
