The Whisky Agency Speyside Malt 1977
$519.99
Region:Scotland > Speyside
Exclusive to KWM in Canada, this 1977 Speyside mystery malt is heavily sherried and has good reviews from Serge at whiskyfun.org , 90pts. Bottled at 46.8% from a Refill Sherry Butt, a total of 586 bottles have come to Canada. KWM is getting just 18 bottles of it. Serge and a few others on the web seem to think it is Glenfarclas. It reminds me a little of our fabled Glendronach 1972 cask... But it may well be Glenfarclas.
Andrew's Tasting Note
Nose: rich, dark and alluring, the sherry notes a big but rounded and smooth; treacle sauce on sticky toffee pudding, warmed maple syrup on vanilla ice cream and dark bakers chocolate with spices; tropical fruits emerge with patience and French bakery aromas.
Palate: big, fruity and creamy; waves of tropical fruits: mango, pineapple, melons and kiwi fruit; there is soft smooth leather, delicate Cuban tobacco and beautiful hand crafted chocolates filled with spices, fillings and fruits; a smooth base of vanilla gives way to a wide array of spices and sugars.
Finish: long, layered and very pleasant, it slowly morphs with time and each passing sip.
Comment: this is a beautiful malt, reminds me a little of our Glendronach 1972 cask from years back; rumour has it, it is a Glenfarclas; whether that is true or not it is a stunning whisky and great value for the quality, age and price; I love it when those three things come together.
