MINT HUMBUGS: Panel's Tasting Note: "Surprisingly deep and complex for its age, we were transported to a tropical swimming pool at first: plastic flip-flops, wicker sun-loungers, with a dusty note (’chest of drawers’), then a rush of pumpkin-seed oil, damson vinegar and Cola-cubes… The taste blows your socks off! Sweet and peppery, after a start of ‘water-wings’. Water softens the aroma and taste considerably: vanilla fudge, cherry pie and Canadian cedar (with cherries) on the nose, and a clean, mint humbug, mentholated (even clove-like) taste. One panellist produced a bottle of Coke and a lime… Delicious!" Drinking Tip: "Looking out over azure water."

Rosebank's are starting to become rare, and the prices are going up. This is not a whisky that ages well, it is too delicate, except in a case like this where it was filled into a 2nd or 3rd fill Sherry Butt. It is creamy and tropical with the floral house style more than evident.

PEPPERED STRAWBERRIES WITH CREME ANGLAISE: Drinking Tip: "The first impression is that of a walk on a warm summer’s evening in a garden with a variety of flowers - with every turn of the head new aromas delicately trying to get our attention. Next to the flowery notes there is sweet tobacco leaves, honey brioche and Crème Anglaise. The taste is velvety and mouth coating like a soft leather glove or melted butter and a lively finish of peppered strawberries with single cream. With the addition of very little water we detected a fruity cocktail or fruit punch with cinnamon and lime. The taste is now of fresh ripe strawberries, star fruit and barley sugar soaked in rum. Give this make, distilled on the grounds of the Glenlossie distillery since 1971, time at every stage and you will be richly rewarded." Drinking Tip: "When in need of some sunshine."

BUTTERY WAFFLES ON POLISHED WOOD: Panel's Tasting Note: "The nose was delightfully sweet – toffee sauce on ice-cream and banana, apple pie, corn candies, iced caramels, dusty muesli and dried apricots; added interest came from flowers, sawdust and fag packets in an oriental massage parlour. The unreduced palate had golden syrup, maple syrup, chocolate fondue with fruit and a dusting of oaky spices (cinnamon, nutmeg, clove); quite bourbon-like. On the reduced nose, leather and polished wood supported the sweetness of buttery waffles and salted caramel. The palate was sweet yet musky, like a Mars Bar with old spice – lip-smackingly tasty, we thought. The distillery is near the Ayrshire coast."
