In 1945 World War II ended, the UN was established, the ball-point pen was introduced and the first incidence of a bug in a computer program was discovered (a moth was removed with tweezers from a relay). "Nose: extraordinary to the point of improbability; the sherry is fresh and keeping at bay logjams of chunky oak, though the fruitiness burns off the longer it remains in the glass; the smoke hovers and soars like pin-prick eagles on the wing. Taste: battling oak fizzles against the sweeter, mouthwatering barley; the fruit is subtle though there is pineapple sharpness amid the still lush grape. Finish: Really impressive, slow development of peat that offers no spice but a smoky overlay to the oak. Balance: how can a whisky retain so much freshness and character after so long in the cask? This game never ceases to amaze me." - Jim Murray
