Frappato is Sicily's answer to chillable, easy-drinking red wines. These bottles are loaded with bright acidity and marked by low levels of tannins, with a structure very reminiscent of Pinot Noir, although it's genetically related to Sangiovese.
Gergenti Frappato is made with organically grown grapes, and it embodies the unique charm of Sicily. The grapes are handpicked in early August. After the harvest, the grapes are left to be macerated with their skins for 6 days. Manolactic fermentation takes place at a controlled temperature in stainless steel tanks. Look for juicy red fruits, a little spice, like summer in a bottle.

After years of searching, a unique opportunity appeared in 2013 to acquire the first three contrade on the northern slopes of Etna. A continually evolving project that began with the reconstruction of the traditional dry stone walls of the terraces of Guardiola – the contrada (district) whose stunning beauty nurtures the underlying motivation and inspiration and whose name is given to the entire project: Alta Mora. The sole grape is Nerello Mascalese from two hectares of 150-year free-standing vines at an altitude of 800/1000 meters above sea level in the Guardiola contrada. The altitude and terroir allow the Nerello Mascalese to ripen more slowly, which promotes rich tannins and distinctive aromas in the grape. The wine drinks like fine Burgundy with great structure and elegance. Plush red fruits, spice, fine tannins; briallant wine.
