What's this? A Tennessee Whiskey that isn't Jack Daniel's, George Dickel, or Uncle Nearest?!?
Leiper's Fork Distillery opened mid-way through 2016 in Williamson County, Tennessee which is about a 40-minute to the drive south and west of Nashville. The distillery produces a few different whiskies including a Straight Rye, A Bourbon, and this Tennessee Whiskey. The Tennesse Whiskey uses the same mash bill as their Bourbon which is 70% Corn, 15% Rye and 15% Malted Barley but goes through the Lincoln County process which means the spirit is filtered through sugar maple charcoal before being filled into charred virgin oak for maturation.
As this Tennessee Whiskey is bonded, it has to follow the following guidelines as set by the 1897 Bottled In Bond Act:

Field & Sound Bourbon is distilled, matured, and bottled by Long Island Spirits of Long Island, New York. Field & Sound's Wheated Bourbon mash bill consists of 60% Corn, 33% Winter Wheat, and 7% Malted Barley. The Bourbon is matured in #2 Char barrels, which is lighter than the typical #3 and #4 char barrels used by most American Distilleries. Like all Bottled in Bond Whiskey, it is bottled at the required 100 Proof, or 50% ABV.

The owners of the Uncle Nearest brand have started a distillery under the same name in Tennessee, but it only opened in 2018. For the time being, this Tennessee whisky is sourced from another distillery in the state. As it is labelled a Tennessee Whiskey, it has undergone what is known as the Lincoln County Process in which the new make spirit is filtered through sugar maple charcoal to mellow it before it is put into barrel for ageing.
