This 12-year-old pot still rum is aged entirely in the Tropics. It is a blend of 9 different casks all distilled in 2008 and bottled in June 2021. This rum is rich and features medicinal notes.

Producer Tasting Note
Nose: Rich tropical fruits (pineapples, bananas) with a medicinal edge. Brine, tar, a little rubber. A little reminiscent of a nice Hampden, which is never a bad thing. Inviting and complex.
Palate: Marshmallows and tires! And I mean that in the best way possible. A pineapple on a stick, roasted over a driftwood fire, haha. Olives, lime juice, motor oil. A little like a Caroni, only pleasant tasting. An excellent balance between the fruity and petrol-y elements. Lingering oaky finish. Great rum. "Black Tot Day 2022 marks the third iteration of our annual Master Blender’s Reserve, an ever-evolving perpetual blend crafted by our Master Blender, Oliver Chilton.
For this year’s blend, we drew inspiration from historical rums in our collection and the unique flavour profiles they exhibited over half a century ago. These rums, since lost in the rum world, were rich with notes of baked banana, dusty chocolate, mocha milkshakes, honey, tobacco, leather, liquorice, and spice. These flavours were mapped out and became our guide."

This independant bottled rum is brought to us by bottling newcomer Bira! by 77 spirits. Founder and friend of the store Karl Mudzamba selects the rums with his wife, and releases them to a only a couple of thirsty provinces.
This is from South African distillery Mhoba and is matured in ex bourbon barrels. They make non-agricole cane juice rums of several marks including long fermentations and the use of dunder(dunder is not used in this expression).
