Leeu Passant is focused on expressing the South African landscape and climate and celebrating South African winemaking and viticultural heritage by working with some of the Cape’s oldest and most exciting vineyards.

They own the Mullineux winery in Swartland. Founded in 2007 in the Swartland region of South Africa, the Mullineux's set out with a shared vision to create fine wines that reflect the distinct terroir of the area while embracing reasoned, sustainable farming practices and modern minimalist winemaking.

This is their flagship cuveé in the Leeu Passant range and an incredible heritage blend from some of South Africa’s oldest registered vineyards. Both the Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc hail from vines grown on the mid-slopes of the iron and sandstone soils of the Helderberg Mountain in Stellenbosch, whilst the Cinsault is from South Africa’s oldest registered red wine vineyard, planted in 1900. This single vineyard in Wellington comprises dry-farmed bush vines that grow on deep sandy alluvial soils. The signature aroma of this Dry Red is bergamot orange, followed by hints of black cherries, violets and bramble. It's highlighted by a firm tannin-structure, textured mid-palate and a beautifully fresh, seamless finish. It will age very well over the next few decades.
