This white blend from Rhone is composed of 60% Grenache and 20% of both Clairette and Roussane. It comes from vineyards owned by Domain Ussegglio that are both certified organic and biodynamic.
The Usseglio family initially emigrated to Châteauneuf de Pape from Italy. Brothers Pierre and Raymond began the dynasty that we know today as one of the most revered producers in the region. Stéphane, Raymond’s son, has now taken over the Domaine and is pushing hard to reach the potential of the family’s holdings, some of the best of Châteauneuf.
750 mlRobertParker.com Tasting Note (2019 Vintage)
Joe Czerwinski - 88 Points - "Richer and riper than the 2018 version, the 2019 Cotes du Rhone Blanc les Claux—a blend of Grenache Blanc, Clairette and Roussanne—is a medium to full-bodied, silky-textured effort to drink over the next few years. Flavors of pear, pineapple and tangerine all make appearances in this plump, fruit-forward refresher."
RobertParker.com Tasting Note (2016 Vintage)
Joe Czerwinski - 89 Points - "The ripe, honeyed 2016 Cotes du Rhone Blanc les Claux is a blend of 60% Grenache Blanc, 20% Clairette and 20% Roussanne. It's medium to full-bodied, with scents of tangerine, pineapple and pear balanced by hints of brine and zest and on the finish."
