Lagar de Costa is a family winery, managed through more than a century with the effort and dedication of three family generations dedicated to championing the indigenous Albariño grape and to crafting it into high-quality white wines. The vines have an average age of 30-plus years and the wine is a light gold colour with an expressive nose of mineral, spring flowers and lemon meringue. Creamy-textured, rich, vibrant, and well-balanced. It would go well with a wide array of seafood, soft-ripened cheeses or simply on its own in the summer shade.
750 mlRobertParker.com Tasting Note (2019 Vintage)
Luis Gutierrez - 90 Points - "There is a new bottle and label for the 2019 Albariño, their entry-level wine, which is still a bit reductive, especially when compared with the 2018 I also tasted next to it. It has some varietal aromas and flavors, white flowers and citrus and granitic tastiness/saltiness. It was bottled after three months with lees. 40,000 bottles produced."
RobertParker.com Tasting Note (2018 Vintage)
Luis Gutierrez - 91 Points - "The expressive and varietal 2018 Albariño has aromas of white flowers and fruit, a touch of recently cut grass and a vibrant palate, with very good freshness and balance, and a tasty, almost salty finish. It's a year of good ripeness, balance and more integrated acidity. It fermented with indigenous yeasts and matured with lees for a few months. 50,000 bottles produced."
