Nose: After a few moments of aeration, roasted aromas emerge, followed by subtle floral notes of white flowers and iris. Secondary aromas of fennel, Sichuan pepper, licorice, candied orange, and exotic fruits add depth and complexity.
Palate: Fresh, round, and smooth, with rich flavors of English cake, candied apricots, and almonds. The palate is indulgent and balanced, leading to a luxurious tasting experience.
Finish: Long and complex, with lingering notes of cocoa and a vintage port-like finish, offering a refined and lasting impression.

This barrel comes from the estate of André Bertandeau. André was deported to Germany for forced labor for 2 years during the Second World War (1942) and was liberated by the Russians. He enjoyed a lot of respect in the region. Not only as a winemaker in Salignac-Sur-Charente, but he continued to work for the community to support families who lost loved ones during the war. Throughout his professional career, he donated his profits to charities. In December 2016, Andre passed away, his vineyards and stock were auctioned. The proceeds were donated to several charities such as Doctors Without Borders.
