Tasting Notes

Andrew's Tasting Note

Nose: creamy, malty, and ashy, with briny coastal tones; vanilla, marshmallow, and aloe; floral and vegetal with a touch of eucalyptus; cigar ash and muddy peat.

Palate: creamy, malty, and citric with a briny-smoky-coastal flair; orange peel and lemon oil; vegetal green grasses and dried flowers with more aloe; more cigar ash, wet highland peat, and traces of vanilla, honey, and marshmallow; late decadent spice. 

Finish: warming, smoky, and faintly sweet with fading spice and citrus.

Comment: despite the finishing casks this is a spirit-forward Blended Malt; but it has a lovely balance, and peatheads will find something to like here... and the price doesn't hurt either. 

Producer Tasting Note

"No doubting the signature Island smoke and spice immediately apparent on the nose, but this is more a seductive clove and pot-pourri spice rather than medicinal coastal woodsmoke. The oak influence is more visible in the flavour with a touch of tannin and spice on the initial taste which mellows with heathery dried fruit and more pepper coming through later. The finish is long with a little dry fiery kick at the close."
