Poplar Grove Cascadia Pinot Gris
$28.99
Canadian wine, with a caveat: This is made from Washington-grown fruit to compensate for the disastrous 2024 deep freeze. You're going to see more of this, for many, it was the only alternative to having virtually zero wine in 2024. The palate displays bright acidity with flavours of ripe nectarine, apricot, and citrus. A smooth and refreshing mouthfeel and long, delicate finish balance this classic style of Pinot Gris.
Mouchao Dom Rafael White
$27.99
Thomas Reynolds emigrated to Porto in 1824 and founded Thomas Reynolds & Son, dedicated to the export of Port wine, olive oil, wool, honey and cork to England. Around 1832, he moved to Alentejo, attracted by the cork business.
Herdade do Mouchão was one of dozens of estates where the Reynolds family produced cork, and it is likely that there were already vines on the estate by that time.
In 1850, Robert Hunter Reynolds (son of Thomas) assumed the management of the business, and in the early 1880’s his nephew William Reynolds played a crucial role in the fight against phylloxera as President of the National Commission against Phylloxera.
Massimo Lentsch Etna Bianco
$41.99
From the owner: "My wine represents the culmination of an entire year’s work in the vineyards- day in, day out – up to the moment of harvest and vinification, and then also of its years of maturation and evolution. This is a process into which, silently and with humbleness and dedication, I give my all, constantly seeking new emotions and experiences: those that a man needs in order to keep giving himself new goals. That is what wine gives you: a new objective to reach every year, and ever since I began to become interested in it and then to produce it, I have understood that it was above all this that I needed. Each vintage tells the story of the weather conditions and of the work carried out in the vineyards, but it also – and especially – speaks about me, because I transfer into every bottle my personality, my character and my willpower. That is why I decided to put my name on them. The decision to create vineyards and a winery on Etna comes at a particular time in my life, in which much has altered at a personal level: a sort of milestone that marks a significant change. Producing high-quality wines in a zone that is very “trendy”, but also extremely competitive, represents a major challenge for me, and one that I intend to win."
Niepoort Natcool Dourado
$48.99
Dirk Niepoort's NAT'Cool! range of wines were created to meet certain criteria : be made as naturally as possible, be low alcohol, be terroir-driven, use native grapes to the region, be affordable, and be so smashable that it's only sold in 1L bottles. Dourado is their brand new and inaugural NAT'Cool orange wine, a white blend from a schistous vineyard in the Provesende area. After 10 days skin contact and native ferment in granite lagares, this finished ferment in cement where it remained on fine lees over 1 year. It then settled in stainless for 2 months, and was bottled with light filtration. Pouring a light golden hue, this light, bright wine streams elderflower, tangerine, subtle honeysuckle, white pepper along the buoyant palate, with a lingering fine stony, saline buzz. Quite charming, and a lovely addition to the strong NAT'Cool portfolio.
