Leclerc Briant Saignee Rose Champagne
$169.99
Founded in the village of Cumières in 1872 by Lucien Leclerc, the winery moved, in 1955, to the premises it still occupies today in Chemin de la Chaude Ruelle in Epernay. It was also at this time, thanks to the dynamism of Bertrand Leclerc, the great grandson of the founder, and of his wife Jacqueline Briant, that the estate-based business changed its status to that of a Maison de Negoce or trading house. In 2012 Leclerc Briant was saved from oblivion when it was acquired by Mark Nunelly and Denise Dupré, an American couple who are great enthusiasts of the French "art de vivre" and who fell in love with the nonconformist character of the House. They are joined by Frédéric Zeimett, a native of Champagne, who since then has led the House to the marches of Champagne codes, serving the expression of a unique style that is now internationally recognized.
Marie Courtin Efflorescence Brut 2014
$154.99
A Kensington Wine Market exclusive! The champagnes from Marie-Courtin are truly something special. An ultra-fine, elegant style with amazing freshness. Delicate and racy, yet absolutely unique in style thanks in part to biodynamic viticulture. All her grapes are grown in a single plot of 2.5 hectares, which is also the total size of the domain that Dominique Moreau founded in 2000. Because all her wines come from a single vineyard, she has decided to emphasize the differences in champagnes through vinification. There are wines matured in barrique, amphorae, enamel tanks and one without sulfur. All come from the 2.5 hectares of single vineyard on the Kimmeridge marl soil of the Soden, on the Côte des Bar. Winemaker Dominique Moreau, who named the estate after her grandmother, is a master of purism. Her champagnes are delicate and elegant, yet with underlying power and a high degree of drinking pleasure.
Pongracz Sparkling
$23.99
In 1973, Desidirius Pongrácz was appointed Chief Viticultural Adviser at Distillers Corporation. During his 20-odd years in viticulture at the Cape, Pongrácz helped shape the South African wine industry through his intellect, insight, knowledge, innovation, vision and above all, fearless tenacity to pursue what he believed to be right. Pongrácz died at the age of 61 in hospital after a tragic accident while transporting Chardonnay vines to Uitkyk Estate. He was cremated on 16 August and his ashes remain in the wall of the family cemetery on Meerlust Estate. In an obituary Nico Myburgh, owner of Meerlust at the time, referred to Pongrácz as “a true gentleman and good friend”.
Champalou Brut
$39.99
This beauty from the husband-and-wife team of Didier and Catherine Champalou is a winner. Floral on the nose, dry and clean as a whistle on the palate, this 100% Chenin Blanc sparkler is less austere and less effervescent than Champagne, but every bit as fun to drink and it's very versatile with food.

A blend of 80% Chardonnay, 19% Pinot Noir and 1% Pinot Bianco.
Ca Dei Zago Prosecco Col Fondo
$34.99
One of the finest examples of Prosecco in our market! Winemaker Christian "Zago has established himself as an important producer of what is known as traditional col fondo Prosecco," according to Wine Spectator. "Zago's single-vintage wines don't rely on the charmat method, dominant in Prosecco, in which the wines undergo secondary fermentation in large, pressurized steel tanks. His more rustic approach is similar to the metodo classico, used in Champagne, with the bubbles created by fermentation in bottle. The difference is that the resulting lees are not disgorged before sale. Instead they rest, somewhat murkily, at the bottom, or "col fondo," of the bottle."
Pittnauer Pitt Nat Rose
$42.99
In their own words: It's been 30 years since Gerhard and Brigitte Pittnauer took over the winery. With only 3.8 hectares of vineyards, which Gerhard had inherited from his parents, we took the proverbial leap into the deep end. In 1998 we joined Pannobile - a well-known group of winegrowers from the region. Through the family dynamic and the lively exchange of opinions within Pannobile, we grew and increased the complexity of our wines. The construction of the striking and individually designed production hall in the middle of the vineyards in 2001 enabled a "quantum leap" in terms of quality and quantity. In 2006 we began converting to biodynamic viticulture - this is also when our winemaking shifted to an even more minimalist approach. In 2007, together with other winemakers, we founded 'Respect' - an international group of leading biodynamic wineries. Today our winery is one of the best natural wine producers in Austria. In 2014 and 2016, we received the two highest awards in the Austrian wine world from the renowned wine magazines Falstaff and Gault Millau: The Winegrower of the Year.

True Colours was initially created for the Swedish market by Altia Sweden, in conjunction with the Cava producer Sumarrocca. It's a high-quality sparkling wine made in the metodo tradicional style (much like Champagne) from Xarello, Parellada and Macabeo, along with a small amount of Chardonnay. The palate shows a core of stone fruits, citrus and minerals with a toasty brioche finish.
"True Colours in Alberta is a partnership between Redback Wine Imports and Calgary Pride/HIV Community Link. We donate $10/case (750mL) and $5/case (200mL) to support the programs of these worthy organizations.
