This 2012 vintage, 13-year-old Cooley Single Grain Irish Whiskey was bottled at 58%, after finishing in a Passito De Pantelleria Dessert Wine for 9 months. The whisky is a collaboration with Dark Cloud Whisky.
Passito di Pantelleria is a style of wine made on the Italian Island of Pantelleria. The wine is made from Muscat of Alexandria grapes that have been left to dry on straw mats, leaving less water and more concentrated flavour and sugars to ferment and create an intensely aromatic and flavourful dessert wine.

"This cask was chosen by Dark Cloud Whisky (Sean Kincaid) & White Cloud Productions (Jeremy Pue) to reflect their friendship & bond through both ancestral heritage and a mutual respect for Irish Whiskey. This particular whiskey was finished in a Passito De Pantelleria Dessert Wine cask and the result is a delightful dram with a floral & sweet nose along with with some honeysuckle notes. On the palate there is some spice up front but the dessert wine cask really shows with a very smooth finish."

The likes of Cardhu and Caol Ila also make up the base of this blend which contains a total of 14 to 16 different distilleries in its makeup. Much of the marketing talks about it being best served chilled, but that is entirely up to you. Bottled at 40% ABV.

This 30 year old "Blended Malt" is part of a range of whiskies released by Gordon & MacPhail to highlight what they are doing at The Cairn Distillery. The distillery's own whiskies won't be ready for some time, but in the interim they have created bottlings to show what the spirit might be like in 12, 18, 25, 30, 40, 57, and 70 years. The Cairn Distillery sits at 57 degrees north latitude-wise, hence the name CRN57 for these releases. 43% 90pts Whisky Fun

Glenkinchie 12 Year

Glenkinchie has long been known as "The Edinburgh Malt", though that looks set to change in very short order, as the Holyrood Distillery comes online in the heart of Scotland's capital. But nicknames aside, Glenkinchie really should need little in the way of introduction. It has become one of the foremost examples of what we consider the 'typical' Lowlands style: light, floral, elegant.

Producer Tasting Note
Nose: Aromatic, vanilla, cut flowers and beneath, a clean, toasty note. Increasingly sweet and creamy, with fresh citrus, lemon cheesecake.
Palate: Crisp mid-palate then butter icing, lemon cheesecake and freesias.
Finish: Herbal and drying, a little like potpourri.
