This 8 year old English single malt was finished in an ex-Islay Cask after initially maturing in a second fill french oak cask. I was bottled at 50.5% as a part of Boutique-y's World of Smoke range.

"Local grains, and a self-cultivated brewers yeast that's over 80 years old is used for their fermentations. This particular liquid has been matured in Second Fill French Oak cask and finished in an Ex-Islay cask."
About the Label
"The Copper House Distillery sits within the Adnams brewery, located in Southwold. Their records of brewing date back as far as 1345, and they were the first brewery to be legally distilling spirits in the UK. The label artwork plays on the many ghost stories surrounding the brewery, with a modern twist. Have you ever been ghosted before? *Weep.*"

Nose: Caramelised malt, with sweet smoke trails. Malted grains with oak and vanilla, spicy, with notes of overripe apples and an underlying charred wood note.
Palate: Nutty chocolate with hints of coffee. There's rich malt, honey, oak spice and some stewed apple with cinnamon spice. The Islay cask makes itself known with a smouldering smoke in the finish.

"It's not often that Decadent Drinks dons kevlar and tiptoes south into the Englandshire, but on this occasion, for a very special knees up and several jars of foaming English ale with our friends at Spirit Of Yorkshire distillery, we made the exception. The result of this mission is this wonderful wee cask of Spirit Of Yorkshire. Laid down in 2018 and fully matured in an ex-Islay barrel which has given it a furtive smooch of peat, this is a beautiful, rich and gently smoky young example of this charming English make. Please note: Velociraptor nurses and pimped forklift trucks are not included with the sale of this bottle."

This unpeated yet feisty 63.4% ABV bottle from that Boutique-y Whisky Company features 12 year old Single Malt from the English Whisky Company. Filled from one ex-Bourbon Barrel, it is one of 272 bottles that have made its way out into the world, with only a handful coming to Canada.

"This is our 3rd batch, and the first commercially available 12 Year Old bottled from this distillery (there was a recent bespoke club bottling of 12 year old whiskies) Their 11 Year Old distillery release has recently been awarded English Whisky of the Year at The Wizards of Whisky Awards
The distillery was the first to produce whisky in England for over 100 years! The English Whisky Company led the new wave of English whisky makers when they released the first English single malt for more than a hundred years in 2009. Some of the best barley is grown in Norfolk, and the Breckland water is superb.
Their distillery is named ‘St. George’s’, but thea are known as The English Whisky Company - there was only one when they opened in 2006, and remained the only whisky distillery in England for some time. St George’s also the first whisky distillery Boutiquey-Dave ever visited, so he have a huge soft spot for this distillery"

About the Label
"The farm distillery was designed by the late distilling consultant Jim Swan to produce a light, fruity and estery spirit. A character intensified by slow mashes, long fermentations, horizontal lyne arms, and shell and tube condensers, with a high, narrow spirit cut. Our 5 Year Old Nc’Nean is from a STR (shaved, toasted and re-charred) red wine cask, and bottled at natural cask strength We’ve gone for the classic ‘Whisky Galore’ for our label inspiration for this one. Founder Annabel Thomas is leading her whisky team, affectionately known as the ‘Quiet Rebels,’ up the rocks to their remote distillery on the Morvern Peninsula. That’s the Sound of Mull in the background. They’re carrying crates of whisky cunningly disguised as ‘Doug Treats’ (Doug is the distillery’s dog) and there’s the ‘mark of the Swan’ branded on the leading crate."
