Domaine Raymond Usseglio owns 18 hectares of vines in Chateauneuf du Pape. Three hectares of vines are used for grapes planted to produce Chateauneuf du Pape Blanc.. The remaining 15 hectares are devoted to growing red, Chateauneuf du Pape varietals.Their vines are well placed, primarily in two locations, with 50% of their vines planted in the famous La Crau vineyard, with the remaining vines situated close to the ancient castle of the Pope. Most of their vines are on average close to 60 years of age. But they do have old vines, some of which are more than 100 years of age. Domaine Raymond Usseglio also owns 5 hectares in the Cotes du Rhone appellation and another 3 hectares of vines that are classified as IGP. All the vineyards in Chateauneuf are farmed using sustainable, biodynamic farming techniques.
Lirac Charles is a blend of Grenache, Syrah, and Mourvèdre, sourced both from the domain's vineyards and purchased from different terroirs, to achieve the desired balance.
This wine has a bright ruby colour and a fresh and lively aromatic profile with notes of raspberries, currants, black cherries, licorice, and hints of spices. On the palate, it's fruity and full-bodied, with firm but well-integrated tannins and a long finish that recalls a mineral vein. Try it with game birds or grilled red meat. It is ready to drink but can also evolve considerably with a few years in the cellar.

Domaine Raymond Usseglio is a family business, created in 1948 by Françis Usseglio, who originally hailed from Italy. They traditionally develop their range of wines, with many of their vines being more than 65 years of age. Usseglio always performs manual harvesting with selective sorting, and all of their wines are certified biodynamic by Demeter. This rosé, with a dominant blend of Cinsault, captivates with its freshness and aromatic profile of luscious fruit and lovely minerality.
